TYC Sex Scandal Should Be Oversight Lesson for Baptists Independent oversight is needed to prevent sexual abuse. The Texas Youth Commission is now learning that lesson. But it's a lesson that's still needed among Southern Baptists, the country's largest Protestant denomination. Until Baptists institute accountability procedures, clergy child molesters will continue to move from church to church.

Clergy Child Molesters Should Not Be Kept Secret: Are We Clear? Flagship Baptist church in Atlanta had prior children's minister who is reported to have sexually abused a kid in Dallas. SNAP, a support group for clergy abuse survivors, tried to hand out a flyer to inform church-members, but they were directed to leave the premises. When will Baptist churches learn that secrecy serves only the predators?

Eighteen Southern Baptist leaders were put on notice of a substantiated report involving a minister's sexual abuse of a minor, and yet the man remained in ministry. Where is the outrage?

Clergy Predators Lurk Like Online Predators Clergy predators lure their victims like online predators. We insist on protection against anonymous online predators, and we should also insist on protection against clergy predators. Southern Baptists must institute procedures to protect against the hellish reality of trusted ministers who sexually abuse the young.
