Kate Smith is an educator, advocate, and activist in Santa Barbara, CA, where she is leading an uprising to expose school and government corruption, reform education, and restore justice and democracy in our schools and community. (www.sbschooltalk.com)

Santa Barbara is gripped by an Education-Politico-Industrial Complex (EPIC). There is an unholy alliance between schools and the Juvenile Justice System, creating The School to Prison Pipeline that incarcerates instead of educates our low socio-economic youth---blacks and Hispanics. "Dismantle the School to Prison Pipeline" (http://www.aclu.org/racial-justice/school-prison-pipeline-talking-points)

EducRat$ and BureaucRat$ are Machiavellians, feeding at the Public Funding Trough. SB CEO Superintendent Bill Cirone is a Rat of EPIC Proportions. There is systemic and systematic violations of state and federal laws, and rampant and severe retaliation against Whistleblowers. Tax-payer paid lawyers collude, conspire, and cover-up deep-seated and wide-spread corruption. The wealth of our nation circulates between Republican Corporations and Democratic Unions. The Taxpayer is screwed.

For speaking out against the Measure S (Jail Tax Initiative), she was named "Person of the Week" (santabarbaraview.com and http://www.thedailysound.com/News/090810SANTA-BARBARA-JAIL-TAX)

In 2008, k8 was illegally disqualified from the SBSD School Board ballot and still, she received 17,500 votes.

She suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and school-district-induced depression from a landmark lawsuit to defend her special-needs daughter's educational rights. She is a lifetime member of Mothers From Hell.org.

"Santa Barbara School Districts vs. Emily Rose Smith" is the most expensive, most complex, and the Office of Civil Rights called it "the most pathetic case of administrative due process in U.S. history." She cashed out 1.2 million dollars in blue chip stock to pay lawyers, and then had to pay the IRS $350,000 in capital gains tax. She's an idiot.

As Katea Akimbo, she was The Princess of The Great Peace March for Global Nuclear Disarmament, a walk across the United States in 1986. Much to her family's dismay, she married The Sacred Clown in (of-all-places) Nebraska in a Ritual Marriage of Opposites for the Summer Solstice Celebration. That a nice Jewish girl with graduate degrees would marry a young conservative Republican paper boy from a military family....oy, don't get me started.

Also known as k8longstory, Kayanne Pepper-Smith, and Katherine of Burgundy Castle, this multi-talented if not multi-personalitied festival producer, theatre manager, and stand-up comedienne earned her B.A. and Secondary Teaching Credential at UC Berkeley, where she was the first streaker on campus, but the moment is marred by the memory of her long walk back to Boalt Hall to retrieve her clothes.

Her claim to fame was as the long-haired hippie chick photographed placing flowers in the bayoneted rifles of the National Guard during the Viet Nam War protests.

Truth Will Out, Justice Prevails, and Love Conquers All against Humorless Arrogance, Illusory Prestige, Brute Force and Primeval Stupidity.

"I am AIE, the Person; when joined by others, AIE becomes "We, the People," and when "We, the People" embrace an Idea Whose Time Has Come, there is nothing more powerful in human form. (www.godsaie.ning.com)

As k8longstory, she wears a black shirt with "We, the People" written in gold lettering; on the back, "Spoiled Paradise."

"I am the Writing on the Wall," she states.
