The picture is me in costume (about 4 years ago) sitting in front of my last venture "The Renaissaice Pub" in Augusta GA which is now closed - a victim of the recession...but it sure was fun!
Before that I was in politics. I worked in Ben Jones campaign for Federal Representative and then worked as a congressional aide in his office. Ben was an actor - he was "Cooter" in the "Dukes of Hazard" tv/movie.
And before that (let's face it - long before that!), when I was a hippie, I wrote for the Great Speckled Bird in Atlanta, GA. I actually got my story on the sorry state of the juvenile detention center in Fulton county GA (Atlanta) on national TV (CBS) - Daniel Schorr did MY story!! As a nmatter of fact, the production company had come to Atlanta to do a story on what they knew was the worst detention center in the USA and they picked up on my story. It was interesting to watch them do a documentary with the same family I had covered.
I'm also an American Indian; member of the Stockbridge-Munsie Band of Mohican Indians. The reservation is in Wisconsin but I didn't know I was American Indian until I was middle age. My mother was "light" enough to pass as white and as a result she denied her heritage and her family. So I didn't have grandmothers, uncles, aunts, cousin, etc., like other children as I grew up which was confusing. And I now have ten great grandchildren who are perfect in every way which while gratifying, is also confusing....since I don't relate to my age and all my friends are ten - twenty years younger than I am. I'm not sure what happened - I guess I grew older when I wasn't looking!
I've written my autobiography. "The Only Good Indian..."
subtitled: "PTSD: A Native American's Story of Survival."
