Children's/Student's Human Rights Advocate, Parent of 3 children (whom we are unable to protect from witnessing/overhearing teachers threaten/Hit students with Wooden Paddles just outside class for minor infractions such as not turning in homework, horsing around, etc. without parent communication as TN State Law does Not require Parental Consent or Notification for children to be physically/corporally punished at school, already Illegal in Schools in 30 states and Prohibited by Federal Law in Prisons and Juvenile Detention Centers) attending schools in an UNRESPONSIVE Paddling School District, Houston County, TN. Federal and TN State Governmnet Officials informed us that the very important matter of our children's health and safety in schools is a "Local Issue" left up to autonomous school boards. Our local School Board members IGNORED our written/verbal presentation in April 2008 during "National Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month" to Demand they Prohibit Physical/Corporal Punishment of Children in our Schools!

Sign petition to support Congress Rep McCarthy's Legislation to Ban Physical Punishment of Children in US Schools Please sign/share petition to Ban Physical/Corporal Punishment of Children in U.S. Schools,already ILLEGAL in Schools in 30 States. Corporal Punishment is Prohibited by Federal Law in Prisons and juvenile detention centers. Volumes of research indicate harm to the healthy development of children subjected to and witnessing corporal punishment.
