My friends have always known me as an internationalist for my interest in international politics, but that has shifted in recent years to an interest in planetary concerns, as I've expanded my interest to include the planet herself, as well as the people, who I consider to be part of the planet.
I'm a 56-year-old American woman in my third year of living in China. I've been traveling the world in recent years to see things for myself. I'm a crystal visionary and mystic. I follow a shaman's path. I use sound healing and energy work for clearing and healing ancestral lines and harmonizing discordant energies. I'm committed to the spiritual shift to a unified energy field of love that is starting to happen. My main interests are teaching English, reading, writing, traveling, photography and communication, both in writing and speaking. I also love to sing and listen to music, as well as watch movies. My favorite physical activities are swimming, dancing, walking, and mountain climbing.
I have a son who is 23 years old and is also living in Jinan. He's making rapid progress in learning Chinese and will soon be marrying a Chinese woman his age. I am also studying Chinese, and believe that I will also eventually be able to master this language, although it may take the rest of my lifetime. Still, I can think of worse things to do with my time. I've also studied Spanish and French, and am still able to carry on a conversation in Spanish, although I'm getting rusty. My ability to communicate in French is more tenuous.
My main interest in global politics today is stopping the practice of war and giving people a chance to cocreate new systems that are more fair and practical. If sometimes this feels as though I'm must antiwar and anticapitalism, I have to continually remind myself that I'm actually FOR peace and justice, and even more, creating conditions where everyone can prosper and flourish, including all life on our planet.
Sometimes I think I'm an alien or an angel, or a misplaced sea creature trying to live on land when I'd rather just be swimming in the sea. However, I am an ardent believer in the maxim that the truth can set us free, and freedom is what I value most.
