Retired after 35 years with the U.S. government, I'm on the board of a local non-profit, a local for-profit and involved in the county Democratic committee, just finished reading Creating A World Without Poverty. I'm a member of the NTEY (pronounced enne-TAY) party--Not Taxed Enough Yet. Especially now that funds for schools and libraries are being cut.
I believe in equal rights for everyone, and in particular gay rights and gay marriage. To say nothing of universal health care with at least a public option. I support a check-card option for union elections and a $20 minimum wage (indexed to inflation).
There's an old saying. In at least two generations of my family there's a slightly different version: "If you're not (at least) a liberal when you're young, you have no heart. If you're not even more so when you're older, you have no head." This is one world and one human family, and there is no peace without justice.
