I've been working with children and families from the foster care system in California for 35 years. I have a Ph.D. in Psychology. I'm an active opponent of the use and abuse of psychotropic medication given to manage children. There are no psychiatric diseases.
For the past 20 years, I've been running mental health agencies. As the Executive Director of several, I did not allow psychotropic medication to be given to children. In the last agency I ran, 26 out of 30 children were medicated when I arrived. We reduced and then eliminated medication for nearly all of them. I say nearly all because I left before we were at zero. We were down to 8 after 3 years. Most important, common child management problems (runways, fights, restraints) were nearly eliminated as medication was eliminated.
I recently retired, and after a year, I'm just now starting to enjoy it. However, I'm still passionate and very active. I just completed the first chapter of a book I'm writing on this subject.

Your Kids Aren't Sick is the first in a series of articles about the misuse and abuse of psychotropic chemicals prescribed to children. YKAS begin with the premise there are no psychiatric diseases and that Psychi-Science is misleading and false. The YKAS series will provide parents with important information about the four chemicals and their physical effects, and as a primer for psychiatric consumers and their children.
