Who am I? A question shouted down through the shadow of the ages. I am....a human trying to learn to be rather than to always do but not having much success.
I am New England born and bred, my mother and father's son, a brother, a twice divorced middle aged Caucasian male, a father, a psychologist and small business owner, a dreaming entrepreneur with grandiose visions of building a thriving and successful mental health consultancy.
I am an amateur drummer who has tried to shed this skin (no pun intended) without luck many times, most recently in the guise of falling in love with the guitar, with which I am also quite amateur. I am a long-time but fledgling lover of Buddhist thought, aspire to become Buddhist -- and aware of the paradox inherent in those words.
I am a lover of books -- not reading, so much, but books -- movies, and music of most forms and types, and food -- and learning how to love others but needing to understand how to love and have compasssion for my self.
I am a human being who values trying to stay committed to the conscious living of life and a deep passion for wanting to be fully engaged in the process of self growth and understanding. This means continually trying to come to terms with inevitable failings of character, struggles relating to others as I become more aware of what I have come to call my self.
I have come to OEN in hopes of interacting with others who will not mistake my passion and written offerings for stridency and intolerance. I long to meet others who will engage me and challenge my assumptions toward the goal of being able to grow as a more fully conscious, accepting, tolerant, and compassionate human -- one who is a human being rather than a human doing.
