The Gulf Cooperation Council is an exclusive inner-circle of 6 OPEC nations. They are a force for existing regimes of oppression and enforce the ongoing corporate theft of oil that keeps the region impoverished. Most recently, the Council has opposed Iran's efforts to support a fledgling democracy movement in Bahrain, which has been brutally beaten down.

While the US nobly protects the opposition in Libya, our ally Saudi Arabia has sent troops and (American) weapons to brutally smash a popular uprising in Bahrain. Saudi officials say they gave their backing to Western air strikes on Libya in exchange for the United States muting its criticism of the authorities in Bahrain.
