I am a current Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at the University of Michigan. I spent most of 2007-2008 in Yemen and the rest of 2008 through summer 2009 in Bahrain conducting dissertation research. I am now in Doha completing a post-doc at a survey research institute.

Crime and Punishment in Bahrain While the US nobly protects the opposition in Libya, our ally Saudi Arabia has sent troops and (American) weapons to brutally smash a popular uprising in Bahrain. Saudi officials say they gave their backing to Western air strikes on Libya in exchange for the United States muting its criticism of the authorities in Bahrain.
