There is a significant public interest, established by statute and by common sense, in determining that votes were counted accurately. The current recount in Wisconsin is uncovering widespread errors and anomalies, especially related to bags of votes that were unsecured or ripped open. While the Accountability Board has not reported affirmative evidence for foul play, the open bags suggest that there were ample opportunities.
