A native Kansan, Diane Wahto is a retired community college English instructor. For most of her adult life, she has been active in liberal causes, including the peace movement and pro-choice advocacy. She is also a member of NEA-Retired. Wahto has an MFA in creative writing from Wichita State University. Since her retirement, she has returned to writing poetry and is now working on a book. She also writes for two blogs, The Kansas Free Press and Everyday Citizen.
She and her husband live with their two dogs in Wichita, Kansas. Her three children and their families live in northeast Kansas.
