Far From the Truth Andrew Solomon's Far From the Tree has been widely praised in the media, even garnering an award. The problem is, the coverage I've seen has glaring omissions: Deafness isn't really mentioned, and Solomon's chapter on deafness is grossly biased and inaccurate. I'd like to introduce a new angle: as a deaf journalist with a Masters in Journalism from UC Berkeley, I wrote an op-ed in response. The other side needs to be told.
