Navy C. Clayton is a long-time resident of Southern California. Raised in the iconic bedroom community of South Pasadena, family and education were central to her upbringing. A high school honor student, athlete, cheerleader, and active in student government and the chapter of SADD, Navy continued her education earning a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of California, Irvine in 1992. Upon graduation, she was hired at the Personnel Department of the City of Los Angeles as an Interview Specialist for the LAPD.
A new marriage to a Stanford graduate and career opportunity relocated Navy to the Seattle suburbs in the 1990's, amidst the decade of the explosion of the "dot com" era. Missing regular doses of sunlight and family, Navy, her husband, and year-old son relocated back to Southern California, in the North County region of San Diego. A second son completed the family in 2002.
Enjoying the economic boom of the housing market in the early 2000's Navy was able to be a full-time mother for her sons' early years. A divorce and economic downturn changed her entire life and at the age of 40, Navy started over with a new career as a hair dresser and a new husband.
Currently, Navy expresses a talent in charcoal portraiture, extending the skills learned during a college semester abroad at the Centro Lorenzo de Medici in Florence, Italy. Extensive travels in Europe extended her horizons and love of exploring new cultures. Also an avid runner, Navy completed her first half marathon at the age of 43, and enjoys runs in the open country with her teenage sons.
