Tea-K-O'd: The Disqualification of the Republican Party Democrats are disengaging from Republicans due to the continued influence of the Tea Party. Many Democrats, myself included, thought the Tea Party might wane after the 2012 election. It hasn't, and the result has been an even further widening of the gulf between the two major parties. Voting Republican is simply disqualified as an option until the GOP tosses the Tea Party overboard.
