2004 ?  Bush Will Beat Bush !

By James Boyne

 OpEdNews.com

The truth of the matter is that in 2004 President Bush will defeat himself. "The cat is out of the bag". "The genie is out of the bottle". "The jig is up". "You can't fool all of the people all of the time". President Bush is not a President. He is just a kid. He is just a transient personality in history, passing by, that history will barely mention in a short one hundred years from now.

He will be remembered as the son of a President, who came to office on the strength of "name recognition". He will be remembered as a President who was lead by the nose by special interest groups, lobbyists, Cabinet appointees, major corporate interests, and the hidden agenda of corrupt Republican politics. He may be remembered as the President that destroyed the Republican Party in the interests of "special interests". What emerges in its place, no one knows.

He will be remembered, if he is remembered at all, for the sheer folly of a foreign policy that alienated the world against us. He will be remembered for reading a bedtime story to a class of grammar school students as the worst terrorist attack in our history took place. He will be remembered for failing to sense the need to protect our great nation and for failing to take the correct retaliatory action to exact reprisal from the true culprits and prevent further attacks. And there will be further attacks, which he himself alluded too.

He will be remembered for the mess that he left for the President that succeeds him---for a $1 trillion dollar deficit; for the collapse of the health care system with more than 50 million uninsured Americans; for record unemployment levels of over 10%; for chaos in NAFTA, WTO, and trade agreements that went awry leading to millions of jobs permanently lost to foreign workers in foreign countries making as low as 3 cents an hour with no benefits; for record level personal bankruptcies of two million individuals and small business owners a year; for a sense that large, multi-national corporations just about bought the White House with over $300 million in Republican contributions; for wars, threats of wars, incursions, pre-emptive attacks, and full scale assaults on Third World countries in the endless pursuit of shadowy, faceless, nameless (an often non-existent) terrorists.

He will be remembered as a President that was "all over the place", but never "in the right place".

President Bush will be remembered for turning over and abdicating Federal responsibility for protecting Americans from ruthless, greedy, corrupt corporate interests. He will be remembered as the President that privatized Medicare, Social Security, the Military establishment, and much of the Federal Government into the hands of private, multi-national corporations, that in turn, out-sourced much of the work and most of the jobs to foreign workers in foreign countries, or to illegal non-American foreign workers right here at home. He may achieve this rather ambitious goal only if he is elected again and serves until 2008. By 2007 he may be the first President to be impeached on the grounds of "utter incompetency". It could be a replay of Nixon's final days when three of the most influential Senators in the Senate visited Nixon and implored him to just simply resign for the benefit of the country.

President Bush is Commander-in-Chief in name only. He is Commander-in-Chief of nothing. President Bush is President of nothing. He is the "boy toy" of corporate interests. He is the lackey of the extreme, conservative Republican religious right. He is the "gofer" for the pharmaceutical, health care, energy, and financial/credit industries.

He commands more than $3 million dollars at a single "campaign dinner" attended by the most influential, the most "connected", the most wealthy corporate scoundrels in the nation. That is what he is Commander-in-Chief of. His total campaign war chest stands at $200 million while struggling, honest, compassionate, straight forward, intelligent, experienced, common sensed candidates struggle to raise a few million from small donations. It's odd that it is called a "war chest".

But fear not. Truth has a way of prevailing. Bush will defeat Bush. Americans may be distracted. They may not be politically savvy. They may not know the issues. And they may not read between the lines. Presidents are usually elected by a slim margin, rarely a landslide.

In terms of personal characteristics President Bush is verbally inarticulate, incoherent, and prone to speaking in "gobbledygook". He has gotten better over the past three years because when he speaks about terrorists, killing, bombing, mayhem, "tracking them down and smoking them out", "thugs and assassins', pre-emptive strikes, mushroom clouds, "the most horrific day in the history of mankind" he gets really animated, fired up, and is one step away from being arrested for inciting mob violence.

When reading from the teleprompter or from scripted 4"x 6" index cards his speeches become disjointed, "scripted sounding", and extremely repetitious. Nearly all speeches have a backdrop of a huge American flag, a giant banner that reads "Jobs and Growth", or a giant banner with the name of the corporation or the organization that is sponsoring the $5000 a plate dinner. (My last excursion to the Outback Steakhouse cost $39 for my wife and I, so I don't quite know what $5000 buys you in terms of a "plate of food", but it must be something special).

There is something fishy in the White House. Something worse than the Clinton White House. Something worse than the Nixon White House. Something worse than the Johnson White House. And Americans can sense it. Seniors can sense it. Baby Boomers can sense it. Environmental activists can sense it. Small business owners can sense it. Blacks, Whites, Native Americans, Hispanics, recent immigrants, gays, anti-gays, pro-life, pro-choice, patriots, peaceniks, survivalists, global activists, liberals, conservatives, independents, progressives, students, blue collar, white collar, the out-of-work, and even the wealthy can sense that something is wrong. Something is off kilter. Something is not quite right with this President.

You can tell what's in a person's heart by looking in their eyes. You can tell the degree of sincerity of a person by the tone, the inflection, the cadence, and the emotional connection you feel when you listen to their spoken word. Americans will decide what they hear, what they see, what they witness, what they feel and what they sense. Glitzy TV commercials will be just that, glitzy TV commercials. Millions upon millions of voters vote based upon their intuition or their gut feeling.

Slick TV commercials, media hype, Hollywoodization of the Presidency, slick staged events like the landing on the aircraft carrier and the clandestine Turkey Day charade into Iraq won't sway what is called the "swing voters" ( voters who vote with their heart and their innate third sense, not Party affiliation).

President Bush has already defeated himself. Dogs have handlers at the Westminster Dog Show. Horses have handlers. Celebrities have handlers. President Bush has handlers that cost millions of dollars all dedicated to preventing him from being himself----George W. Bush, the ignoramus, the son of a former President, the creation of a cadre of dangerous political operatives intent on turning over America to what President Eisenhower warned us about in his farewell address, the military/industrial complex.

Little did "Ike" know that it would be a much larger conspiracy than that; that it would be a military/industrial/pharmaceutical/health insurance/energy/financial/consumer credit---seven headed, fire breathing dragon, with an insatiable appetite for "profits at any cost, profits at all costs". Little did "Ike" know that it would be a Republican created monster that would devour the very economy, the monetary system, the true purpose of individual capitalistic enterprise, and that would render the Federal Reserve System as a player of minor proportions in the greater scheme of the financial well being of our nation. Monetary policy can not save us.

Does anyone know why we never hear from the Treasury Secretary, the Council of Economic Advisors, the Budget Director, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, any more. Where, oh where, did they go? Who are these strange nameless people that are tackling the problems of a $450 billion budget deficit, 9 million unemployed American, 43.6 million American with no health insurance, 1.6 million American who have just declared bankruptcy, 40 million seniors who are baffled, bewildered, and befuddled about the new super duper Medicare plan. Who are all these Presidential advisors and where are they hiding.

What are the organizations fighting for our rights? Why did AARP just tell 36 million retired American to "go to hell", by voting for the "mother of all deceit, deception and hoax's"--- President Bush's new Medicare legislation? Why did AARP lower its "retirement age" from 65 to 60 then to 55 and now to 50? Will it go to the age of 45 and then 40 and then 35? One of the only retirement organizations that is fiercely fighting for prescription drug benefits for retired or soon to be retired Americans is the www.Allicance For Retired Americans.org. It totally rejects Bush's new Medicare plan as woefully inadequate, misleading, inappropriate, and deceptive (especially the provision to outlaw Americans from purchasing American drugs, made by American companies, from Canada). It provides "chartered bus excursions" to Canada for fragile, feeble, sickly Americans so they can buy their prescriptions for half price in Canada. Bush will be stopping the buses at the border and arresting seniors. He should get his priorities straight and stop the crack cocaine, heroin, and hundreds of billions in really dangerous illegal, degenerate, street drugs from entering the country through Mexico, and leave our vulnerable seniors alone instead of playing to the interests of the pharmaceutical industry so he can collect $5000 a plate for an old tired, stale, musty campaign speech.

Retired Americans would be better served by joining the AAA Auto Club so they can at least be towed off the road if they break down in their car (and which also provides insurance, travel benefits, and a hopeful, positive, optimistic perspective about ones future years of enjoyment. For a refreshing change visit  AAA Auto Club if you still drive and are interested in a wide variety of benefits that you might find interesting and very, very useful. I'm a member, and there hasn't been a year yet for the fee hasn't paid for itself.

Americans aren't stupid. They are busy. They are busy working hard. They are busy looking for a job. They are busy trying to figure out how to protect their life savings. They are busy, resentful, and flabbergasted at the complexity, the coldness, and the chaos that characterizes the American health care system.

Americans don't understand what happened to their doctors. Where did they go? Why aren't they there? Why does it take twenty minutes, 3 times a week to reach a human being at a doctors office or at a heath care facility? Why does no one want to know your name any more? Why is the first questioned asked: " Do you have insurance. What is your policy number. What is the 1-800 number of your policy? The doctor won't be able to see you for three weeks. He is "out of the office.. He isn't taking new patients. He isn't available right now. Do you have Mastercard? Can you pay the co-pay". Why is it that no one ever asks, "What is your name, and what is your problem, can you come in tomorrow?"

Americans are busy. But Americans are not stupid. They can be fooled----for awhile---but not forever. They can see through the trickery, the foolery, the deceit, the hype, the deception, the monotonous cadence of double speak in the Presidents speeches. They can see that President Bush is not President Bush. I myself have no idea who he is, but he is not President Bush----President of the United States of America. He is not President of the "burning light of Freedom", the "nation that every other country on the globe looks up to", the "last great hope for a peaceful, harmonious world", and a world where that epitomizes the insightful and perceptive comment of a troubled man that uttered, "Can't we all just get along" !

In the end, Bush will defeat Bush in 2004. It can be no other way.

Vote with your innate intelligence, your mind, your conscience, and your heart. Americans will sort it all out on Election Day, 2004.

James Boyne is a satirical, political freelance writer and has ten other articles published on www.opednews.com. He has previously been a diehard, staunch, conservative Republican who has voted for Goldwater, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush I and Bush II, and now has made a 180 degree turnabout and supports the candidacy of Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), who appears to have the most integrity, honesty, common sense, straightforwardness, enthusiasm, optimism, and "fire in the belly" to be possibly the best President in recent memory. He is a progressive, populist, liberal, Democrat and is a man of principal, intelligence and experience. Mr. Kucinich comes from a humble background and clearly spells out his positions on issues on his web site www.kucinich.us so there is no question where he stands on issues. He is an eloquent, articulate, inspiring, motivating, positive, optimistic and enthusiastic speaker. He writes his own speeches, which is truly refreshing. (If you would care to read a review of his recent "book of speeches" entitled "A Prayer For America" you may with to read some of the 35 personal comments and reviews from common people throughout the political spectrum. My review, from the viewpoint of a former conservative, Goldwater/Nixon/Reagan/Bush Republican is also listed. The reviews in themselves are inspiring. If you wish to read the renowned, prophetic farewell address by President Eisenhower visit  President Eisenhower's Farewell. The only twist of fate that President Eisenhower  didn't realize, that would materialize, was the fact that the military industrial complex would actually become a military/industrial/pharmaceutical/health care insurance/financial services/energy/consumer credit/ultra extreme Christian coalition complex, engulfing and swallowing up the entire Republican Party. He didn't realize the "corporate dollar" would become the mainstay of public policy and that self-serving, anti-American, special interests, would seek to prevail with no consideration given to "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness"; the Declaration of Independence; the Constitution; and the Bill of Rights. President Eisenhower would be turning over in his grave right now, at how the country is being dismantled, dismembered, and its very fabric discarded.

**It is the responsibility of all Americans to vote. You should know where all the candidates stand on different issues; why they believe what they do; how they plan on carrying out their plans (rather than just empty promises); and get a sense for their character, honesty, commitment, integrity and their vision for America and for the world. You should know what their background is. How did they get to where they are now? Know their life, and you will know them. VOTE !
