press release from Kerry Campaign:
John Kerry on the February Job Creation Figures
OpEdNews.Com
Washington, DC - Today in response to the new job creation figures for February, Democratic candidate for President John Kerry issued the following statement:
"Just yesterday, this president said that we can replace the thousands of manufacturing jobs lost by hiring 'two more' workers at a time. Well, Mr. President, there's about 3 million people out there who lost their job under your failed policies that are saying two jobs at time isn't good enough.
"For over three years now, since the start of this recession, George Bush has promised the American people that new jobs are on the way. But, he's over promised and under-delivered.
"Today's jobs numbers show how far we are from any of the President's promises being kept. The fact is that every new job created this month was for government employees. There were zero private sector jobs created - no manufacturing jobs.
"At this rate, we won't dig ourselves out of the jobs hole George Bush has gotten us into for almost a decade. But we can't wait that long. Today, the American people have a real choice before them - wait until 2013 for this Administration's first new job, or wait eight months to give George Bush a new job, bring change to America, and get our economy back on track.
"This week, Dick Cheney said that if America had my kind of tax policies instead of George Bush's policies that we 'would not have had the kind of job growth that we've had.' Mr. Vice President, you better believe it.
"We're going to help American businesses create and keep new jobs here at home. We're going to cut taxes for the middle class, rebuild our economy, fight for our economic future, and bring back jobs."
ANOTHER TERRIBLE MONTH FOR JOBS UNDER BUSH ECONOMIC PLAN
Zero Private Sector Jobs
Will Take Until 2013 to Get a Net New Job Under Bush
· 21,000 Jobs: Last month, the nation created 21,000 new jobs. At that pace, we wouldn't see single net new job created until January 2013.
· Zero Private Sector Jobs. All of the jobs created last month were in the public sector. There were zero private sector jobs created.
· Three Millions Jobs Lost: Under this Administration, we have lost 2.9 million private sector jobs.
BUSH-CHENEY SAYS UNDER KERRY ECONOMIC PLAN, WE'D NEVER HAVE THIS KIND OF ECONOMIC GROWTH: WE COULDN'T AGREE MORE. Vice President Cheney said: "If the democratic policies had been pursued over the last two or three years - the kind of tax increases that both Kerry and Edwards have talked about - we would not have had the kind of job growth that we've had." NO JOBS, JUST EXCUSES
Excuses: More than three years after they took office, the Bush Administration is still blaming Bill Clinton for job loss, even though President Clinton presided over the creation of 23 million new jobs. A new Bush campaign ad released this week proclaims: "January 2001. The challenge: an economy in recession." Economists Say Bush Claim Not Credible: "The only trouble with this assertion is the nonpartisan National Bureau of Economic Research, which does the official dating of recessions, says the downturn began in March 2001 - early in Bush's presidency. TAX CUTS THAT DON'T DELIVER ON PROMISES AND DON'T CREATE JOBS
First Tax Cut:
Bush Promise: Will create 800,000 jobs by the end of 2002. Reality: American lost 1.9 million jobs.
Second Tax Cut:
Bush Promise: Will create 1 million new jobs. Reality: America lost 53,000 jobs.
New Promise:
Bush Promise: 2.6 million in 2004. Reality: FED Chairman Alan Greenspan says it's unlikely.
MORE AMERICANS IN DEBT: Under George W. Bush, American families are facing a growing debt burden that threatens their economic future and security. According to the Federal Reserve, the nation's debt grew by some $1.7 trillion last year, to $22.4 trillion. The nation's debt hasn't grown this fast since the late 1980's. The total national debt, excluding the obligations of banks and other financial institutions, grew 8.1 percent last year, its fastest pace since 1988.
JOHN KERRY A REAL PLAN TO CREATE JOBS: John Kerry has a real plan to create. He has a stimulus plan to give tax breaks to manufacturers who hire additional workers, state fiscal relief to stop layoffs, revive the technology sector.
