An Article as Proctoscope for Dick Cheney and Richard Cohen The only thing we can do with an article by Richard Cohen about how Dick Cheney might be right about torture, is to take it apart, re-assemble it as a proctoscope, lubricate it and stick it up both their asses.

US government document says Bybee and Yoo must go to jail Doing a little research, I came across a US government document that says specifically that because the content of their torture memos endeavors to persuade other persons to engage in such conduct, they must go to jail. It says that absolutely, unequivocally and without doubt.

The Specter of Opportunism and Expediency Specter: a haunting or disturbing image or prospect. Arlen Specter's Republicanism couldn't be more in evidence. He's using the standard Republican tactics of expediency and opportunism by saying he wants to now, after all these years, be a Democrat.

Hayden and Mukasey Admit to Conspiracy to Torture Michael Hayden and Michael Mukasey, the former, we are thankful for that, Director of the CIA and Attorney General, come right out and admit that they go along with and approve of torture that violates United States law.

Some straight talk to Mike Allen and the Republicans An article at Think Progress about Politico's Mike Allen pissing and moaning about the DHS report warning about the danger of rightwing extremists deserves some straight talk.

Atticus Finch lost to George Bush but defeated the Republicans There's a prescient analogy in Harper Lee's novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, to recent and current events. All the characters are there, representing the forces of good and evil that we see in operation today.

Broder's call for bipartisanship is the best evidence for partinship In David Broder's April 12 column, "The need for bipartisanship," Broder ignores or has forgotten the evidence he presented in his own column of eight weeks ago showing that when dealing with Republicans, partisanship is needed and is what works.

Paranoid Republicans are projecting their own evil ways onto liberals Just think for a minute about where all those false accusations about what the evil liberals are going to do to the Republicans comes from. It comes from within the Republicans.

Geithner and Others are Dumping a Load of Bullcrap on Us Dissecting the terminology that financial wizards such as Geithner and others are using to sell us on their efforts to rescue their buddies in the financial industry shows that they're still, even now, after the lessons learned from the Bush administration, phrasing it in terms that are designed to obscure the truth.

By Coming to this Website, You're Looking at the Future of Journalism An article from The Nation gives a thorough explanation of the failure of the country's newspapers. Their solution for the saving of journalism is government support. But, the future of journalism has already been set, as can be seen here on OpEdNews.

Will an anthrax commission do any better than the Warren and the 9/11 commission? The Warren Commission to investigate President Kennedy's assassination and the 9/11 Commission to investigate the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 raised more questions than they answered. There are striking similarities between those events and the anthrax attacks that account for this.

Republican Lawyers Offer Proof that George Bush is a War Criminal In a February 17 article in the Washington Post, David B. Rivkin Jr. and Lee A. Casey flat out make the case that George Bush is a war criminal without even realizing it. They thought they were only referring to President Obama, but what they say applies equally to George Bush.

Selective Preemption and Ducks Bush felt safe waging preemptive war, since it doesn't affect him, but preemptive pardons are another matter.

Impeachment Desuetude Will Foster Presidential Crimes There's more than just the reason that George Bush is a despicable criminal to prosecute him for his crimes. It's the "Use it or lose it" principle. It's the legal doctrine of desuetude, where the non-use of a law renders it invalid. It says that if we don't prosecute Bush in a timely manner, the laws against his crimes no longer apply, and he gets away with it. And future presidents will, too.

More than a Liberal Thanks to Margaret Bassett for posting an article by Michael Lind, Is it OK to be liberal again, instead of Progressive? That brings up other questions, are we actually either one, and can a single label of any kind accurately describe who we are?

Did you know that Jonah Goldberg's and Obama's skin color are different? Jonah Goldberg has an October, 29 article that starts right off with the first words of the blatantly racist title, "Skin color is all that's new about Obama." Well, Goldberg's skin color is just as new as Obama's. And, Obama had no more to do with his skin color than Goldberg did with his own skin color. So, why is Obama's skin color an issue for Goldberg? And, why does Goldberg write an article with so many mistakes?

We've met the enemy and he is a Republican The United States has been attacked and brought to ruination far more effectively than any foreign enemy could ever have hoped for. One of the leaders of the attack, Alan Greenspan, has acknowledged the success of his attack and at the same time has only said that he was wrong in how he went about it. His weapon against the United States was Republican, conservative, free market ideology.

When trickle down became bailout became flood up I was born and grew up on a farm with an outhouse. I know what trickles down. I've seen it and smelled it. I've also seen a lot of horseshit, and I can smell and recognize it when I see it. We've been told that trickle down economics is good for us. Turns out that trickle down was just a way to hold us off until Bush and his Republican corporate cronies could turn trickle down into flood up.

Hold off on the schadenfreude, we're the ones who are about to get screwed. Rob Kall correctly points out that the story presented by the Bush administration for the justification for the bailout of the financial institutions is the same as the hoopla, spin and lies presented for the WMD story about Iraq. Not much to it, it's wrong and it comes from the same congenital liars as before, things that we knew then weren't true, and we know now aren't true.
