We've come to the last Full Moon of the astrological year. When the Sun is in Pisces, we let go of our sense of the past year, dissolving back into the ocean of collective consciousness so we can get back to our essence. We do that with the Virgo Full Moon, which asks us to belong only to ourselves. It's time to ask some questions about who we are and what we're here on Earth this lifetime to do. So dream on!

Friday's dreamy New Moon in Pisces might be confusing, especially since Mercury goes direct hours before the New Moon and Mars goes retrograde the next morning. Shifting energies means nothing is as it seems. So go with the flow (a very Piscean thing to do) and see where you end up. That's hard on our patriarchal consciousness, but too bad. That's life!

Living a symbol life meaning diving deep into life, seeing the spiritual purpose of why we're alive. It goes against the grain of our society, but it's what is needed to change the world. When we see the spirit in life it takes us beyond what we consume and own and into the realm of why we're here and what we are responsible for.

The Leo Full Moon occurs on February 14th, Valentine's Day. A full Moon makes us aware of something, and this full Moon wants to make us aware of how we can unite with others as individuals, share our creativity and envision of new world. To do this, we have to stop holding onto old relationship patterns that keep us isolated, afraid and unconscious. We do this by engaging with the archetypal patterns that make us human.

Living a symbolic life entails living in the imagination rather than in the collective story--which is pretty much one-dimensional. The Archetype of wholeness in an individual becomes the archetype of Community in the collective. And the most powerful image we have for that unity is the photograph of 'Earthrise' -- our first look at our planet from the Moon. That image speaks to the heart of our unity.

Carl Jung said that we badly need to live the symbolic life, a life of meaning. We do that when we engage in the stories we believe in. We have the chance now to change those patriarchal stories and give birth to new ones. The archetypal patterns of life are in need of renewal, and we are the only ones capable of changing this patriarchal story of death into one of new life. Are you ready to begin?

The 2nd New Moon of the Month is also a celebration of the New Year--this time the Chinese New Year of the Wood Horse. The Cosmic Story offers us a chance to look at our society and find like-minded people to work with to change the world. As we contemplate the future this month--a very Aquarian thing to do--decide what you want to do and then go find like-minded people to do it with. We are preparing for a big April!

Believe it or not, the Cosmos is with us! The stories in the heavens are pretty similar to the stories that are playing out here on Earth. And why not? If the physicists are right, we're all One in the dance of energy. This week's Full Moon in Cancer makes us aware of what we need to feel nurtured, to feel happy. Doesn't the Declaration of Independence promise us, 'life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness'?

The New Year begins with an auspicious New Moon, one linked with Pluto, the archetypal god of the Underworld. Pluto in Capricorn has been uncovering financial and leadership dead-weight, and it's time we take responsibility for what our capitalistic system has created. We have to make mature decisions not only about our individual lives, but about our cultural life as well. It's time for us to become heroes/heras.

We find ourselves at the darkest time of the year here in the North. That's the time to look for our inner Light. And we'll need it, because this holiday season is the gateway to the intense configuration that will take place in late April. Prepare yourselves! Practice those values and virtues you'd like to see in the world. Peace, love, compassion and community are a good place to start.

As the Sun emerges from the turbulent waters of Scorpio, we step into the fires of Sagittarius. The lessons that haunted us in Scorpio must now be forged in the fires of Sagittarius into arrows that lead us to our future. New knowledge needs new perspectives. We have to prepare ourselves with a new vision, because all of us are called to create a better future than patriarchy has planned for us. The key ingredient is belief!

We've just been through an emotional tsunami of energies this past month and everyone needs to recover their balance. What better way than to realize that the seasons bring us different gifts. This is the season of Death, when we can let down our hair, put up our feet and finally relax. That's what this season is all about--the fallow time of year when everything in Nature rests. Including us!

Personally, it's a time to let go of old paradigms and step into new realities, new stories. A solar eclipse signals a new start. In Scorpio, it's about finding new ways to relate to each other from the truth of our being, rather than the mask. And Happy Samhain--All Hallows.

If we want to see an example of how to conduct grown-up relationships, we have to go back about 3,000 years to the Celts. Their Brehon Laws recognized 10 different types of marriages, as well as legitimizing lovers. What do you think?

How have we contributed our talents to creating a more peaceful, just world? Bring in your harvest and rejoice at what you've achieved.

A revolution is building around the world, a revolution of peace and greater self-awareness and responsibility. We are in labor with the future. Let's not lose hope just because things are painful.
