Why Lutyens Media has blanked Modi on "AP Special Status"? As of now, 11 states in India have the Special Category Status (SCS): Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalya, Tripura, Uttarakhand and Mizoram. Under SCS, 90 per cent of funds is allocated as grants which need not be paid back. Such states also enjoy concessions in excise and custom duties, income tax rates and corporate tax rates.

Indians can't leave India to their politicians or professors India can go wrong any moment. It could be an ecological disaster or a hostile nuclear-armed neighbourhood. It could be the lava of a largely young nation which frustrated at lack of jobs or coma of our judiciary could bury us all under a thick carpet of violence and breakdown. We surely can't leave it to our politicians and professors.

Modi, "triple talaq" and a brazen Congress As per the 2011 Census data, 13.5 Muslim women are married before they turn 15. The ratio rises to nearly 50 per cent for Muslim women getting married between 14-19 years. The child thus "transferred" at a fragile age is unlikely to resist the patriarchal order, from the one of father to the new one of husband. Such a "captive" audience would do as the overarching men in the family would ask them to do. Love, set and match.

The media portrayed it as another assault on freedom of speech. Close on its heels, actress-cum-politician Ramya visited Pakistan and said "it's not all hell." Again a sedition case was filed. In neither of the instances, ruling party BjP was involved.

Russia brings Taliban on table as India observes Russia secured a huge diplomatic victory when it got Taliban to turn up at a meeting on Afghanistan, attended by no less than a dozen countries, in Moscow last Friday. This was the first time Taliban were face to face with the other side, the government-appointed Afghanistan High Peace Council, in the "Moscow Format" multilateral meeting which lasted less than three hours and was only aimed at kick-starting peace talks.

MSM Fake News Monitor: Express on Bhagwat Indian Express today had a four-deck headline on its front page: "Farmers, small business must not suffer, RSS chief tells govt" (Sub headline: Mixes praise for Modi with caution, seeks "new provisions" in Valley). On the parameters set out by Facebook, this is clearly a Fake News. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat never said the "small business" are suffering; and even if he thought so, he never addressed it to the government.

So far, I believed in the pictures of Rahul Gandhi, skull cap and all, in Iftar party breaking his fast, so to speak, at sunset during a day in the Ramadan month. His remarks that Congress is a party of Muslims. Now, I read he said Tuesday in Indore that his party is one of Hinduism.

Tragically, the news in newspapers is about seizing of firecrackers, violations and arrests, with the same sense of foreboding as bomb-attacks in our cities, seizures of cache of rifles, machine guns or handcuffed terrorists. A classic case of solutions being worse than the malady.
