Gaza:History and Today's Freedom March Suppressed by Egypt
by Arn Specter, Phila. (Twitter) December 30, 2009
Last nights report (VIDEO) on Democracy Now about Egypt denying
hundreds-thousands of activists access to cross the Egypt/Israel
border is well worth viewing; a terrible denial of basic civil and
human rights on the part of Egypt (despite many appeals by the
International community) and the Israel government. The Gaza
Freedom March is to commemorate the 1 year ago horrible seige
of violence perpetrated on the Palestinians in Gaza which killed
1440 people (over 400 children) and wounded 5000 while displacing
50,000 people from their homes...
The Report by Judge Richard Goldstone, sanctioned by the United Nations implicates Israel for crimes against humanity, war crimes, which far exceeded Israel's right to defend itself. Israel was given 3 months to foster an independent investigation on Gaza, while Hamas was to do the same for it's aggressive actions in firing rockets into civilian populated areas in Israel.
Too, the talk, "Gaza: One Year Later" by the well regarded teacher
and social historian, Noam Chomsky, gives us an historical view of the
past year in Gaza with an historical analysis going back many years
before then.

In Egypt, hundreds of solidarity activists from around the world are being prevented by the Egyptian government from entering Gaza. Dubbed the Gaza Freedom March, organizers were planning to cross the border last Sunday to commemorate the first anniversary of Israel's assault on Gaza that killed 1,400 Palestinians and thirteen Israelis. We get a report. [includes rush transcript]

Noam Chomsky, "Gaza: One Year Later", VIDEO TALK,

On December 27, 2008, Israel began one of the bloodiest attacks on Gaza Since 1948. The three week assault killed some 1400 Palestinians and 13 Israelis. One year later, little to no rebuilding has taken place and the siege in Gaza continues.

Speaking in Watertown, Massachusetts on December 6, 2009, linguist and social critic Noam Chomsky delivered a talk entitled "Gaza: One Year Later."

Thanks to Robbie Leppzer for filming this event.
