Dear Kansas Corporation Commission,
I would like to express my outrage at how your
Commission, Westar Energy and the local officials of Emporia are likely
endangering the lives of the Evans family, who live near a Westar
facility in Emporia. Your disregard for the health and well-being of that
neighborhood is neglectful at best and at worst criminal.
This story was brought to my attention by Mark
Crispin Miller at: http://groups.google.com/group/newsfromunderground/browse_thread/thread/3975663adfc3c228/f0be3e345f6816d4?lnk=gst&q=joanne+evans#f0be3e345f6816d4

It has been followed up by Joan Brunwasser at: http://www.opednews.com/articles/Let-s-get-the-Evans-family-by-Mark-Crispin-Mille-091228-519.html. I have also posted this story at my website at: http://www.layofflist.org/?p=5994.
This story is now one that many concerned people are closely following and are
involved with at various levels.
I'm am sure you are aware of the
following video links that Joanne Evans placed on YouTube. If you are not
aware of them, I would urge you to watch them and then watch them again
to determine if you would want your children and family to suffer the
pollution consequences that you permitting through your gross neglect of
the Evans family and the neighborhood.
The Evans family
and the neighborhood at large are suffering mightily due to Westar's continued
harmful noise pollution and media contamination. For you to sit idly by and let
this occur for the past years is unconscionable and it needs to be corrected
immediately.
I grew up 60 miles
form Love Canal, another corporate pollution nightmare that lasted far longer
than necessary because of local government complicity, which is similar to the
relationship between Westar, your Commission and the officials of Emporia.
You are allowing potentially deadly and certainly harmful pollution to endanger
a neighborhood where many children live and congregate. I ask you to take a long
look in the mirror and decide if you would let your children live and play in
that polluted environment. I would hope that your answer is an emphatic,
No!
I urge the
Commission to stop the damage that's occurring to the people of
that Westar neighborhood. The contamination you are currently
permitting is a potential life threatening situation if you don't act
quickly and responsibly. The nation is watching how you handle this self-made
tragedy and many will not rest until you do what is necessary by ending this
pollution nightmare at Emporia Westar
facility.
Thank you for your
time.
