Some Thoughts On Our Bush-Induced Nightmare

By Allen Snyder

----------

For the last week or so, I've been on partially voluntary hiatus.  It's amazing how much has happened.  Writing columns on it all would take forever, so I'm resorting to the time-honored method of listing some not-so-randomly selected bits of outrage, hypocrisy, and good old-fashioned bullshit that accumulated in my absence.  For what they're worth, then, here are some thoughts on our continuing BushCo-induced international nightmare.

----------

How screwed is the world when I find myself agreeing with Saddam Hussein that George W. Bush is a war criminal and that Cheney and Rumsfeld should both testify about how, thanks to the Great Script-Reader Ronald Reagan, they and Saddam were all a**hole buddies in the 80's, that all the chemical weapons Saddam used to kill his own people were marked 'Made in the U.S.A.', and the only reason we invaded Iraq was to further neo-conservative global designs on Middle Eastern domination and hegemony (oh, and oil, too)?

----------

It's a good thing telling a US Senator to go f*ck himself on the Senate floor is a recognized conservative therapeutic treatment and not merely potty-mouthed immaturity demanding formal censure (or a sound thrashing).  Otherwise, Dick-head Cheney's having said so to Sen. Patrick Leahy lately would lack class, honor, and integrity, qualities these insane crooked bastards assured us they'd return to the White House.  They lied.

----------

The three most important things I took away from 'Fahrenheit 9/11' are:

1)      that the American corporate media is the biggest bunch of spineless, useless, ineffectual, feeble, incompetent shitbags who ever walked the Earth.  Thanks to their 24/7 non-coverage, constant cheerleading (Katie Couric impishly gushing, 'Navy SEALS rock!!' had me retching in the aisle), and eternal fear-mongering, thousands were lulled into climbing on BushCo's Perpetual Death Machine for an Iraqi desert ride with no apparent end (you don't even have to be 'this tall' to die; just ask the mothers of the 1,000 dead Iraqi babies).  I'll never take another American 'news' broadcast seriously.

2)      that the Democratic Party isn't much better.  The Congressional Black Caucus pleaded and begged for just one Senator to step up to bat for them concerning their royal screwing in the fixed and stolen 2000 Presidential election.  Not one did; not Kerry, not Kennedy, not Daschle, not one.  Cowards all.  Look what your silence hath wrought, fellas.

3)      George W. Bush is an even bigger dipshit than I thought possible.

----------

I've said it before; I'll say it again.  You can always judge the truth of accusations against right wing-nuts by their cacophonous reaction to it.  The louder they scream, the closer you hit.  Instead of rebutting facts, they questioned Paul O'Neill's sanity, Richard Clarke's loyalty, and Bob Woodward's objectivity.  Now they're calling Michael Moore fat, frumpy, and goofy-lookin' (who didn't know that?).  Hmm, I wonder if Moore, et. al.'s, damning claims against the filthy traitors in BushCo are true or not?

----------

It's time we put to rest another one of the right wing's pesky persistent myths - that of the so-called liberal 'elite'.  If claiming 'the haves and have-mores' as his own personal political base, barely working a day in his life, shopping for credibility on his family name, and inheriting a boatload of blood-soaked money doesn't make Bush elitist, the word has no meaning.

----------

Conservatism as a political ideology is a big joke.  Conservatism contributes nothing to the betterment of anything.  It sole purpose is to stifle or eliminate progress, freedom, liberty, equality, fairness, social justice, and the voice of the people.  Anyone who has done anything positive for the world and its inhabitants has been and always will be a liberal.  The only appropriate place for conservatism is in the dustbin of history.

----------

Was that really George W. Bush up there on the Fourth of July talking about shared sacrifice?  Are they still acting like this war was about liberating Iraqis?  Is Cheney still hawking those non-existent Iraqi/al-Qeada ties?  Are they really hammering Kerry and Edwards for being rich?  Are they really talking about postponing the election?

----------

The bogus handover of sovereignty to exiles and CIA operatives in Iraq provided one of the more ludicrous Bush moments with Condi's little love note to Dubya saying 'Iraq is free' or some such sh*t and Bush's responding 'Let freedom reign'.  Made me think of Karl Rove in a nun's habit standing over Bush shouting "'I' before 'e', except after 'c', or when sounding like 'a' as in 'neighbor' and 'weigh' (and 'reign', you dumbass)".  Probably not far off.

----------

The CIA did it!  The CIA did it!  What a pantload.  To believe this crap about faulty intelligence, you'd have to believe there was nobody out there before the war telling BushCo that there weren't any weapons - that they'd all been destroyed after Gulf War I.  With Scott Ritter, Hans Blix, and many others firmly on record saying so, scapegoating the CIA is just another example of BushCo's collective cowardice.

----------

Sadly, I could go on for pages:  reactivating retired senior citizen military personnel, Herr Gröppenfuehrer Arnold Steroid-Case calling the Dems a buncha 'girly-men' and being too much a man's man to apologize, and the new film expose'  'Outfoxed' (confirming our worst fears, no doubt), and the dangerous rhetorical shift to Iran just to name a few.

Stay tuned.  The next 100 days is gonna rock!
