Congressman Conyers:
Thank you for pursuing the apparent election fraud that occurred in this year's Presidential election. We are concerned however with the stated goals and objectives as related to us based on your appearance on MSNBC on November 8, 2004 .
We all agree that we need to ensure that in future elections all votes are counted and that any impropriety is prosecuted vigorously. While we share the concern for future elections we believe it is far more important that we accept the true will of the people in this election. As Mr. Olbermann pointed out before your appearance, there are now reports of 29 counties in Florida that virtually flipped their vote, from their registration, a seeming improbability. Additionally, all 29 counties that had this aberration used the exact same method of voting, lending more credibility to the possibility of fraud.
Mr. Olbermann also pointed out that votes in Warren County, Ohio were tallied in secret and indeed were the results that led to the slim Bush victory in the Buckeye State . This is not the appearance of impropriety, it is improper.
Most compelling however may be the exit polling which clearly indicated a Kerry victory in many states. In the two states which had paper trails for their machines ( New Hampshire and Nevada ) the differentials between the exit polling and final vote tallies was only 1%. In the crucial states where there were no paper trails, the differentials all grew to 5-10%, and always in favor of Mr. Bush. We believe this is another statistical improbability that indicates fraud.
This story needs a powerful voice. It needs a force behind it and we are asking you to provide that voice; to be that force. During your appearance the impression was given by you that because Senator Kerry has conceded, this issue has less to do with the results of this election than it does about future elections. We respectfully disagree. Senator Kerry represents at least 55 million Americans who voted for him. We believe he does not have the right to concede our vote and our will.
The American democracy hangs in the balance of this issue. Four years ago we talked about ensuring that every vote counts, yet here we are again, saying the same thing. It cannot be allowed to stand. The investigations and results need to be transparent and swift. If there is even the mildest possibility that the President's victory was fraudulently achieved, then the truth needs to be brought to light before the election can be finalized. The will of the people must be known.
We respectfully request that you take this charge on behalf of America . Any efforts and investigations need to be about this election first. The American people deserve no less.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Anthony Wade, New York
