IAEA Refusals to Address Nuclear Safety and Prevent Nuclear Power Plant Explosions
The title of my latest OpEd News article clearly states my safety concern for Zaporizizhia nuclear reactors. "The IAEA Again Thwarts Nuclear Safety to Risk a Zaporizhzhia Explosion Disaster"). While the prevention of military attacks on nuclear reactors is paramount, the prevention of nuclear power plant explosions upon loss of cooling due to a military attack is equally important. In other words, if a nuclear power plant is attacked, and that power plant consequently loses power to cause a loss of coolant accident, an environmental disaster due to an explosion can be stopped. Yet, the IAEA refuses to take action to implement this important back-up plan to save lives and the environment from any potential explosive nuclear disaster.
