All the Marbles

The upcoming presidential election is the most important election in the history of the United States and maybe the world. We hear variations of that every election, but this time it is true.

It isn't every day that voters get to decide if the most powerful nation on earth will remain a democratic republic based on the U.S. Constitution; or become a dictatorship ruled by a p*ssy-grabbing con-man who is currently out on bail awaiting sentencing on thirty-four felony counts.

That's a no-brainer to anyone with a brain.

The media is counting down the days to Election Day and calling it a close race. How can it be a close race? Biden beat Trump by 7 million votes in 2020*. Since then, Trump has pissed off tens of millions of women over the abortion bans. Add to those: the blacks, browns, veterans, gays, trans, disabled and other blocs of voters that Trump has also managed to insult in the past few months .

Now, the Democrats have a younger, more dynamic candidate in Kamala Harris; and the polls show her expanding her lead over Trump. Harris' pick of Tim Walz as her Vice President was a masterstroke-- especially when compared to the stable genius' pick of J.D.Vance, who hasn't quite mastered the art of acting like a human being. He obviously attended the Ron DeSantis School of Charm.

The proverbial ham sandwich should be able to beat Trump in November.

If there was still any question which candidate should be the next President of the United States; that was answered during the first and probably last Presidential Debate. After getting his ass handed to him in the debate with Kamala Harris, Trump called off the third scheduled debate because that is what loud-mouthed bullies do when someone stands up to them.

We can only hope Trump has not been able to gather a big enough army of true believers to successfully overthrow our elected government by force. That is why most civilized nations arrest and imprison failed insurrectionists-- rather than allowing them to run for President and try to overthrow our elected government-- again. Only in America.

That is why we can't settle for squeaking out a two-point victory over Trump. We need an overwhelming landslide victory for the Democrats. We need to let the powers-that-be know that we've had enough of Trump and MAGA; and we don't want to live in the world they envision in Project 2025.

But beating Trump is not enough. The whole damn Republican Party needs to go. The Grand Old Party has deteriorated to the point that they no longer even pretend to represent anyone. They are for whatever Trump is for, and against whatever Trump is against. They have no platform besides cutting taxes for the rich, rolling back safety and environmental regulations and seating "conservative" judges. There is no plan to help ordinary Americans. They have forfeited the privilege of representing anyone.

These same Congressional Republicans had two opportunities to rid us of Trump by voting for his impeachment; but they refused-- even after Trump attempted to overthrow our government by force. Even now, Trump has the Republican Party and a majority of Supreme Court justices working overtime to help him avoid answering for his crimes. They continue to defend Trump and do everything in their power to obstruct justice when it comes to him. They act as if Trump is somehow above the law, and it is their sacred duty to protect him from all prosecutions (or persecutions-- as they call it).

When it comes to Trump, you can oppose him, or you can be corrupted by him. Most Republicans took the path of least resistance to corruption and swallowed the Big Lie. The few that dared oppose Trump, like Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney, were dealt a quick political death. Fear of being primaried and kicked off the gravy train keeps the rest of the Republicans in line. They act like a herd of sheep, but aren't quite as smart.

*****

This election is not the usual contest between two rational parties that differ in their vision for America. This is the big showdown between our American system of government and a small group of people who want to destroy it for personal gain. They want to turn America into a white-nationalist theocracy guided by Project 2025. To further their plan, they have corrupted the presidency with Trump; they have corrupted the Republican Party for Trump and they have corrupted the Supreme Court by Trump. They believe their time has come and they are betting all the marbles on this election.

Because this is no ordinary election, we can't treat it as one. Just because you are a Republican and have always voted for Republicans; it doesn't mean you have to vote for Trump. Trump is not a Republican and never has been. Trump is for Trump and has no plans to help anybody but Trump. Ask him. He has no plan. He has only a concept of a plan.

Republican leaders in Congress and hundreds of staff members from previous Republican administrations have already denounced Trump and come out in support of the Harris/Walz ticket. Every day more Republicans announce that they will vote for Kamala Harris on November 5th. So, unless you are one of the lost souls in the MAGA cult who have to vote for Trump-- no matter how many crimes he commits-- you can join Democrats and independents in rejecting everything about Trump and Project 2025.
