There is a ton of important stuff we need to talk about with regards to critical mobilization. But we have no choice but to respond to the wild and irresponsible lies being propagated about what happened in Nevada over the weekend.
There was NO ACTUAL VIOLENCE. We saw one video of a person picking up a chair and then immediately putting it down. No chairs were "thrown." If there had been any actual violence someone would have been arrested. NOBODY was arrested. There certainly were enough police there.
And yet we're being bombarded with a conspiratorial narrative that there was some orgy of violence, and we'll give you two wild guesses about why. It is the corporate media, and those in the Clinton camp, spinning the narrative to try to take down Bernie Sanders, who cannot condemn violence enough times, and in enough different ways, to even be heard once.
One story we read claimed there were "thousands" of death threats. It is the most preposterous of exaggerations. We've heard all the recorded calls, at most a couple people with quavering voices, and not a credible actual "threat" among them.
Speaking as strong Bernie supporters ourselves, we have already, for our own part, condemned the INFANTILE behavior of professed Sanders supporters who shouted insults, left harassing phone messages, etc. That alone is reprehensible enough.
Because all the knuckleheads who did these things have accomplished is to tend to discredit the candidate you profess to support, and played into the hands of those working to beat him back.
And in particular, to the spiteful fool who leaked the NV chairperson's phone number, the
amount of damage you have done is almost beyond comprehension.
Now . . . here's what you people are going to do.
You're going to be on your best behavior. You're going to be polite. You're going to be
respectful.
Because otherwise all you are doing is abdicating all real political power for a generation. We cannot win by out-thugging the thugs.
If you have any complaints, you're going to voice them in a peaceful way, and lord knows we've given you enough action pages to do so, action pages that work, and will continue to work, if only you care enough to submit them.
Both these action pages represent issues that Bernie himself has spoken out on strongly within the last week. And he has the leverage to win meaningful victories on all of them if you speak out in a civilized way. Submit them, social media share them, and win.
Or you can cut Bernie's legs off with more stupid, childish stunts.
And our new Dump Trump bumper stickers are available here
And if you are still not happy with the fairness of the convention result you are perfectly free to walk from the Democratic party, and we would not blame you if you did, tragedy though that would be for all of us, in case you have not yet read Trump's proposed Supreme Court nominee shopping list, which is what this message was SUPPOSED to be all about.
Have we made ourselves clear yet?
