BEST SHORT -- The Rescue
THIS SHORT FILM IS A NUCLEUS STORY OF A FEATURE FILM IN THE WORKS CALLED "ROMEO" based on true stories of young women and girls who are being trapped in the largest human rights violation in the world today.
This short film titled "The Rescue" showcases a tiny percentage of women and girls who get rescued from being sex trafficked, a global, multi-billion dollar industry. This is based on a true story about how girls are often swept into trafficking through someone they trust and think they are in love. These traffickers are called "Romeo's" as they groom their victims, get them addicted to drugs, and before they know it... they are being sold for sex.
Some organizations, as well as hotel and airline industries, have dedicated time to train their employees about how to watch out for the signs of those victims while solutions are in place to help save the victims. The process of protecting this young woman is based on factual methods of the hotel industry. However, much more needs to be done to break the silence and help heal those who have escaped or been rescued from their trauma.
Tess Cacciatore is an advocate for education and healing in the sex trafficking arena and the Founder/CEO of Global Women's Empowerment Network. Tess is also the Director/Writer/Producer/Editor of this piece.
