As America is being pushed closer to a Christian theocracy with political victories piling up with the elections and nominations of Christian extremists such as Bob McDonnell and Christine O'Donnell, with wealthy Christians pouring millions of dollars into religious right movements, and with a powerful and influential network of Christian churches and Christian television and radio programs being used by greedy and ambitious Christian charlatans like Ralph Reed to usher in a Christian theocracy to replace the American Republic it's very important for freethinkers to make these Christian politicians answer tough questions about their religion. If they're going to use Christianity to win votes and gain power, it is vitally critical that people know exactly what they believe as Christians.
One topic all Christians of the religious right need to be called on the carpet over is health care. Almost all of them oppose any type of universal health care. A good example is the new golden boy of the Values Voter Summit, Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana. Like most Christians in the religious right, he frequently speaks out against health care and does all he can to oppose it. Christian politicians like Pence need to be publicly asked, in all seriousness, why, as Christians, they are concerned at all about health care since the Bible openly promises at Mark 16:17-18 that Christians have the power to heal the sick. For it is obvious that the Bible clearly makes this promise and as a Christian Pence and his fellow Christian politicians need to follow through on this Bible promise. He should be asked why he has not already organized Christians to heal the sick across the land and therefore remove any need for universal health care.
Since Mark 16:17-18 doesn't specifically promise that Christians can heal, or make whole, people who're not merely sick but who are injured, Pence and his Christian cohorts need to call on another Bible promise to take care of them. People suffering from broken bones, crushed skulls, dismemberment, etc. can be made whole by Pence and other Christians who use the Bible promise at John 14:12 which claims that Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." This Bible promise clearly states that Pence and all Christians will be able to do "greater works" than what Jesus did. It is claimed in the Bible that Jesus actually raised people from the dead. That means that Pence and all Christians can also raise people from the dead plus even more! So, based on this Bible promise that Pence and company believe in as Christians, Pence and all Christians can make healthy working limbs appear on amputees, can fix broken bones, etc., etc.
Pence and all members of the religious right need to be made to answer these reasonable questions. And freethinkers need to demand real answers. This will greatly undermine peoples' belief in Christianity and the religious right. People will soon see what a fraud Christianity and faith-healing are. It will do much to make freedom and progress safe.
