That's the Rove/Republican game plan. They trust that the remaining members of their base will automatically, stupidly, continue to produce the knee jerk reactions to phrases like hold the course, cut and run, and suggestions that to fail to go the distance with the war is an act of cowardice.

And there are millions of "stupid white men" as Michael Moore so aptly described them in his book, who will embrace these right wing echo chamber spins. These are the men who use talk of war and talk of superiority over anti war democrats as a kind of Viagra that makes them feel more manly, tougher.

I call them the dumbest, dupes in the world. Since this is a kind of sexual thing, with the war talk as Viagra, that sort of makes them cuckolds-- men who are made fools of by other men.

The fact is, the Republicans are trying to justify staying in a war that shold never nave been started. They're trying to legitimize keeping on engaging in what amounts to a horrible crime. Bush lied to get us into this war. He knowingly used false information. His fraudulent claims were used to justify starting a war. It's hard to think of a worse crime. He and his cronies deserve to go to jail. And what do you call some one who aids and abets criminals? I call them accomplices. That's what the Republicans in congress are. They are attempting to keep the like going. This is a war that should be stopped dead in its tracks.

The Iraqi people want us out. Oh sure, the "elected" officials give lip service to keeping our troops there. But there are people who the US has a major role in getting elected. In Iraq, the US controls the media. They pay for articles. They shut down media they don't like. Reporters are being killed there all the time. Here in the US, the mainstream media destroy candidates they don't like, like Howard Dean. They bolster up candidates that have higher entertainment value, like Hillary Clinton. So imagine how artificial, how truly undemocratic the Iraqi elections have really been.

When some Republican legislator tries to perpetuate the lie of a just war and talks about staying the course, I think, "What course, the one that was started upon with lies about WMDs? The one that was started with lies about the threat of nuclear cluds? The one that was started with lies about Saddams involvement in 9/11, when Iraq was not even on the government's list of nations that harbored Al Quaeda?

How stupid do these right wing extremists think the American people are? But then again, we don't see the news media critiquing these lying accomplices. Every single news anchor should be laughing at these snivelling liars as they spew their faux testosterone laden bluster about courage and bravery. There is no courage in staying on a course that waas decided upon based on lies and deception. That is stupidity, bad leadership, denial, arrogance, ignorance and heartlessly tragic, since it is causing so many deaths, so many maimings of soldiers and innocent civilians.

But it's politics. It's the strategy, along with empty legislation against same sex marriage, flag burning and the like, that the Republican leadership has decided will keep their base in line. It is at best cynical, at worst murder. Karl Rove, who plays a major role in setting the dark, despicable right wing vision, should be hanged, but only after being handed over to the Taliban. He's a war criminal and deserves to be judged and sentenced by his victims.
