DCCC Blacklists Consultants and Firms That Primary Dem Incumbents
By Rob Kall
the DCCC is using a totally top-down approach to keep existing incumbents elected. This is an almost suicidal effort to protect their existing power. It's not surprising. Too many Democrats in the house are corporate shills who protect each other. They must be scared shitless over the possibility that what Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did to incumbent Joe Crowley, who she defeated, will also be done to other corporate Dems.

The DCCC is using a totally top-down approach to keep existing incumbents elected. This is an almost suicidal effort to protect their existing power. It's not surprising. The bulk of the Democrats in the house are corporate shills who protect each other. They must be scared shitless over the possibility that what Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did to incumbent Joe Crowley, who she defeated, will also be done to a slew of other corporate Democrats.
Here's what Justice Democrats reports:
Just last week, notoriously conservative incumbent Dan Lipinski voted against national protections for LGBTQ Americans. Today, the DCCC blacklisted political firms and consultants from working for candidates that would primary him.Talk about having your priorities wildly out of place. Here's the official new policy of the DCCC:
"The DCCC will not conduct business with, nor recommend to any of its targeted campaigns, any consultant that works with an opponent of a sitting Member of the House Democratic Caucus."Make no mistake this is a clear signal that the powers that be are more afraid of Ayanna Pressley and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez winning primary challenges than Henry Cuellar who votes with Trump nearly 70 percent of the time.
Corporate incumbents are already incredibly advantaged, with powerful donors and name recognition. The DCCC further putting their fingers on the scale to scare potential progressive challengers from running for office is political malpractice.
It might not be a betrayal of our party on paper, but it is surely a betrayal of our common Democratic ideals a forfeiture of our principles in pursuit of total immunity for bought-and-paid-for representatives who refuse to represent the people of this country.
Why should we fight for people like Dan Lipinski, who sides against LGBTQ protections and a woman's right to choose? Why should we rig the system to protect Henry Cuellar, who fuels his political machine with the money of private prisons and detention centers?
If these imposters get to call themselves Democrats, are we not forfeiting what it means to be a Democrat? What happened to standing up for diverse working-class people, building an economy that works for all, and winning a brighter future for everyone, not just a wealthy few?
But this is not at all surprising and it will not stop us. This shows the DCCC and House Leadership would rather operate from a place of fear, rather than strength.
Centrists and corporate representatives have tried to stop the bending of the party towards justice for years they did not succeed then. They will not succeed now.
We won't let them.
In solidarity,
Alexandra Rojas
This DCCC is totally wrong, taking this approach. I would hope that organizations like Moveon.org, PDA, DFA and Democratic Socialists will all speak out against this disgusting, ultra-conservative attempt to prevent change from happening.
The leader of the DCCC is Cheri Bustos. She's in a congressional district that was re-districted to help Democrats when she was first elected in 2012. She won her last general election with 61.9% of the vote. I say that SHE should be primaried, that as a leader who put this despicable, anti-democratic, anti- bottom-up policy into place, she does not deserve to hold her slot. As a four term congressperson, she is already in a leadership position. It is time for progressives to take out, through primarying, the leaders who attempt to prevent real progressive change from happening.
I made another donation to Justice Democrats. After all, there are so many hack, corporatist incumbent Democrats who deserve being primaried. And just look at the amazing new progressives who are rocking congress-- Omar, Ilhan, Ocasio-Cortez, Presley. They are amazing. Imagine if four more, or 40 more these Republican-lite hacks were replaced.
And maybe it's not a bad thing that the DCCC is blacklisting those consultants and firms. That may open up doors for new consultants and organization with the guts and integrity to stand up to the DCCC. Maybe progressives need to find out whether the consultants and firms will agree to the DCCC's blacklist. Maybe progressive should blacklist the ones that refuse to work with candidates who are primarying incumbents.
We are making serious progress. We no longer have to take this kind of DCCC nonsense and abuse.
