I offered that last paragraph not because I believe it could ever happen but to point out that is would be the appropriate response, and in fact, for a supposedly "Christian nation," the correct one. Once an all-out nuclear attack were launched against the US, or alternatively, once the US launched an all-out attack against, say, China, there would be absolutely nothing accomplished by the target nation's retalliating in kind. It wouldn't save the targeted nation. It would just be amplifying the mass murder count. Worse yet, while perhaps some part of humanity, most likely those living on un-involved continents like Africa and South America, might survive the wiping out of one nuclear nation, none would survive if two or more nations joined in committing double suicide. Whether the survivors would take the lesson to heart is another matter...
