Joe, you lost your soul when you started promoting mass incarceration of mostly people of color. If you ever had a soul. My recollection is you also opposed busing to integrate schools. WTF? I rode four or five miles to get to school in my rural community. Just the bad luck of living at the start of the bus route. It wasn't harmful to kids to ride a bus, and it wasn't harmful to have racial integration in otherwise segregated schools.
