It would be nice if you were right Chuck, but you're not. First of all this is not "a flu," which is just showing your medical ignorance. The corona virus is not a flu virus. If it were, Tamiflu would work on it. It's a whole separate family of virus. I have a lot of doctors in the extended family, all in this battle, as well as a doctor on our collective, Jess Guh, who went to Stanford Medical School and is not running a federal health clinic in Seattle, one of the early hot spots. I have a mother-in-law who at this moment is in a nursing home where half the patients and staff caught COVID-19 and is in the last stages of dying of the disease and will probably be dead tomorrow, and a nephew-in-law who is a first year ER doc at Belleview in NYC who not only has been up to his eyeballs in handling cases, but caught it himself (fortunately getting over it and is back in the ER trenches). My mother-in-law got rid of the virus after a tough several weeks, but like many victims, it caused her to have a stroke (not something the flu does!), and also left her lungs permanently damaged (not something the flu does), and now she's having her kidneys shut down. This is a very complex infection, and you are missing that. Also, in my experience, getting the flu shot has helped prevent me from getting it most years, and has kept it relatively minor when I have, as opposed to years I didn't get a shot or the shot missed the type of flu that ended up spreading, when I got seriously sick. I'm afraid while you're usually on target, this time your missed it completely. This is a disease that is particularly dangerous for those of us over 70, and even more so for those of us with some compromised health issue. I should add that healthy young people are getting strokes from this disease -- another thing that the flu doesn't cause. Don't give me this Trumpian crap that it's nothing worse than the flu and I should stop worrying about it.
