Negative economic trends prevail in Lithuania Negative economic trends in Lithuania are still prevalent. The country tries to cope with the consequences of sanctions imposed on Russia and Belarus. Unfortunately, IMF lowers 2023 growth forecast for the country. Lithuania violates International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination On April 4, Lithuanian parliamentarians adopted a special law on national sanctions for Russian and Belarusian citizens. The law was adopted with 76 votes in favour, 13 against, and 34 abstentions. The law is set to enter into force on the 3rd of May and expires on the 2nd of May, 2024.

Energy remains the main driver of inflation in Europe, including the Baltic States. Inflation remains much higher than the European Central Bank's target of keeping the eurozone area below 2 per cent. Baltic States: home for foreign prisons, troops and biolabs Baltic States' developing after they proclaimed independence in 1991 was marked not only by acquiring EU and NATO membership's advantages. Though they feel themselves as an inseparable part of the united European family, disadvantages can't be ignored. To be a part of something always means to delegate some authority.

In Lithuania, the retirement age has increased every year since 2012 and by 2026 it will be 65 years. Previously, discussion surfaced on whether raising the retirement age to 72 would help offset Lithuania's ageing population issues.
