used to be that CEO's were responsible to take care of employees and communities. That all changed with Milton Friedman's model that only maximizing profits was important.

Need to commit to doing business with companies that engage in sustainable business.

When you buy things that are made by slaves in sweat shops or by destroying the environment we are giving a terrible burden to our grandchildren.

How do you deal with walmart? Â Send them emails that you want them to get better-- treat their employees better, fair wages for workers in china.

Bottom up.
Indigenous cultures-- traditions are all bottom up.

We've gone from a time when geopolitics was controlled by religious orgs, then governments, now corporations.... the next phase is we the people must take control. It's got to be bottom up.

if it's in our corporations, then we can really address through our shopping habits, through persuasion through embarassing them, getting them to change. We've seen an amazing example of t his in Latin America--- ten coutries have voted in leaders standing up to the corporations.

All ten of these countries are doing this. They are insisted that the corporations in their countries do a better job environmentally, socially, sharing more of the profits with the people.

This has been in many cases, done by indigenous people.

Rob: It sounds like the third world may save America.
