This is not my choice to appeal in a way where I make the case that they could lose their job but it’s in our representatives interest to keep their job which gives them good health care, money to pay for their kid’s education, money that allows them to eat plentifully, money that allows them to indulge in the freedoms others do not, etc.
Make it sound like they could be unseated in 2008 by Republicans (or for that matter, someone from the Democratic Party in their district who plans to run against them in upcoming primaries) will have an effect. They will listen if you frame it as an issue of job security and party success. Also, if getting rid of a divide is what they want, certainly they will understand they have to have a meaningful conversation on impeachment or else we won’t go away.
I believe action must be taken. But our first goal is to get our leaders to talk about the “I” word on the House floor openly. And then we advance our goals to the next level. Then we demand they support impeachment.
