Just as Commulism is structured and supported by the 5 Pillars, Fusion Warfare likewise encompasses “pieces” from these same integrated and countering supports (less Social Order), with a military lead, which not only address the multi-dimensional Commulism threat, but too the many other known and unknown U.S. national security threats (e.g, Terror, NATO subversion, TBD, etc.). In other words, flexible warfare doctrine at the ready to deal with any known, developing or new unknown threats waiting to be born.
It comprises components from 4 of the 5 pillar disciplines in the “Commulism Response Framework” - Military (sea, air, land, space, special operations), Economic – the engine of Commulism, Technology, Intelligence and Information Operations (I2O), and Strategic Partnering (aka “Waging Peace” et al - see Note below).
The Fusion Warfare Doctrine will employ not just the (lead) Department of Defense (DOD), as was principally the case in prior generation warfare. Instead, it too weaves in the State Department, new CIC (see coming Part 10), Treasury Department, Fed and other relevant “global geo-political/intelligence/economic partnering” potential contributing government agencies such as health, education, etc..
Note: The Chinese are making great inroads in the Southern Hemisphere (continental Africa and South America) as noted in Part 5 (Strategic Partnerships), using their sophisticated “Waging Peace” strategy (see coming Part 11), leveraging senior government agreements in trade, immigration, education and multi other outreach programs. Note other organizations, not necessarily directly linked to the Chinese, have adopted and embraced the Waging Peace moniker too. Indeed, the theme is potent, works.
All designed to curry favor and influence with their target country to gain the favorable, to attain the coveted geo-political and geo-economic strategic positioning they desperately seek, and all accomplished “without fighting”. To illustrate, some think this immersion strategy may even yield an Argentina with a Chinese majority by 2025.

That “Fusion Warfare” global battlefield engagement doctrine is designed and driven by a complex, yet fragmented and mutating multi-dimensional “threat matrix environment”, arising from and “split” between the many separate, yet distinct and increasingly interconnected faces (military, political and economic) of Commulism, global terror, and newbie threats arising from general world order realignment (see coming Part 11) et al.
Fission Threat Environment:
Whereas late 20th century (Cold War) fourth/fifth generation based “Maneuver Warfare” was designed exclusively for the single dimension pure military threat, to engage the Soviet Union on the plains of Europe, seventh generation based “Fusion Warfare” is a multi-dimensional and “integrated” global doctrine, encompassing not just complex military (conventional, irregular, asymmetric and space) but intelligence and I2O, political and economic connectivity threat pieces too. This covers the gamut, applying across the entire diverse and “split”, fragmented threat spectrum/matrix. All pivoting off the critically necessary robust, rapid, rational decision making doctrine to make it all synergistically come together and successfully execute from.
Note: As a point of reference regarding generational warfare evolution, according to Russian military scientists, such as General-Major V. Slipchenko, head of the Scientific-Research Department of the General Staff Academy, for example, and consistent with other expert opinions, warfare has evolved through at least five generations. He notes the first generation of warfare involved infantry and cavalry without firearms. The second generation saw the development of gunpowder and smooth-bore firearms. Rifled small-arms and tube artillery were introduced in the third generation of wars. In the fourth generation, automatic weapons, tanks military aircraft, signal equipment, and powerful new means of transporting weapons were used. The fifth generation of warfare includes, of course, nuclear weapons. In the sixth generation of warfare, a superior military will be able, through advanced data-processing, smart weaponry, EW and air defense assets, and space-based reconnaissance and weaponry, to destroy discrete targets and inflict military and political defeat on an enemy, all at a low cost in casualties and without occupying enemy territory.
Author’s Comment: World War II (ex Hiroshima) is an example of third/fourth generation warfare, while Cold War/Vietnam era conflicts being examples of fourth/fifth generation warfare. Sixth generation warfare really began with the Gulf War conflicts and continues to evolve to what’s now urgently required to address Commulism - Seventh Generation Warfare – 7GW.
That “split” or matrix-like threat environment analogous to a nuclear “fission” reaction. Fission means “splitting”. In nuclear terms, an atom. In geo-political terms, a burgeoning “split” threat matrix. In other words, the antithesis of a nuclear “fusion” reaction which “fuses” atoms together. Fusion Warfare doctrine than brings together that which is necessary to best defend/defeat that which is splitting apart.
In Fusion Warfare terms then, a “split” matrix of threats. Thus the moniker which the Analyst will coin “Fission Threat” Environment.
Unlike the Soviet era single dimension/threat environment and accompanying U.S. designed “Maneuver Warfare” battle doctrine, this new, complex threat environment is a diverse (split), multi-dimension one, yet still with varying degrees of important connectivity. In fact it is “split and varied”, covering the gamut from major conventional military battles to terror use of electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weapons (disabling/knocking out every grid and non-grid (e.g. automobiles, portable electrical devices etc.) powered electrical devices over a large geographic area), to counter-insurgency actions, to potential combo military/economic/political leverage to reclaim Taiwan, to economy destroying cyber attacks and any and all other devastating Commulism and/or global terror related military, economic and political threats in between and those still to be determined.
“Fusion Warfare” is therefore the culmination, in fact the collective inter-connection, integration and synergistic “putting (fusing) together” of all facets/assets necessary (military/intelligence/I20, economic and political) for successfully engaging a “split”, varied and mutating threat matrix, the “Fission Threat Environment”.
In fact, “Fusion Warfare” is the leap to true “7th Generation Warfare”, and precisely as noted in Part 5, where Commulism and its key proponents China and Russia are aggressively headed.
