The President signed in law H.R. 514 , the "FISA Sunsets Extension Act of 2011," which extended certain surveillance authorities included in the USA PATRIOT Act and the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004. Source

The White House announced Jeremy Bernard had been named Special Assistant to the President and Social Secretary. He joined the White House staff from the U.S. Embassy in Paris, where he served as Senior Advisor to the Ambassador.
