The President spoke by telephone with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey on the situation in Libya. Readout

The President signed in law H.R. 514 , the "FISA Sunsets Extension Act of 2011," which extended certain surveillance authorities included in the USA PATRIOT Act and the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004. Source

The President issued notice that, --in accordance with section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622(d)), I am continuing the national emergency with respect to Cuba and the emergency authority relating to the regulation of the anchorage and movement of vessels set out in Proclamation 6867 as amended by Proclamation 7757. The President sent a letter to the Speaker of the United states House of Representatives listing sanctions ordered against Libya in the President's Executive Order .

The White House announced Jeremy Bernard had been named Special Assistant to the President and Social Secretary. He joined the White House staff from the U.S. Embassy in Paris, where he served as Senior Advisor to the Ambassador. Prior to that role, he worked as the White House Liaison to the National Endowment for the Humanities. Source

United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced, "If you are a woman or Hispanic farmer or rancher and feel you were discriminated against by USDA between 1981 and 2000, you must request a claims package to participate in the claims process. To begin this process, you can either call 1-888-508-4429 or visit www.farmerclaims.gov to submit your information online." Source

The White House released visitor records to the Disclosures section that were generated in November 2010, including   visitor records generated prior to September 16, 2009 that were requested by members of the public in January 2011 pursuant to the White House voluntary disclosure policy.

Day734/Feb27th/Sunday: The President, in a released statement, welcomed the announcement by King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa about making important changes to the cabinet and restating his commitment to reform, declaring, "The United States supports the national dialogue initiative led by Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and encourages a process that is meaningful, inclusive, non sectarian, and responsive to the people of Bahrain.
