In addition, supporters argue that businesses will be better off because they would not have to incur the cost of providing health care to the employees. Opponents say that the single payer system is a bad idea. They say the US has the best quality health care in the world and if we were to go to a single payer system, the quality of health care would worsen. They also say the country can't afford it without large tax increases. Who are you more likely to agree with - supporters of a single payer health care system or opponents of such a system?

25. Some people have suggested that the US increase the minimum wage. Supporters say increasing the minimum wage will lift people out of poverty and keep full time workers from needing government services. Opponents say that increasing the minimum wages hurts the people it is trying to help. Businesses will not be able to afford to pay the increased wages, so they will be forced to cut jobs.
