Dear Bruce Springsteen,
There's been a lot of talk online about whether you should say anything political at your half-time show. Some people say Rock and Country has never been political. So I make this request to show that strong political opinion has always been a factor in American music.
Copper Kettle
Get you a copper kettle,
Get you a copper coil,
covered with new-made corn-mash,
never more you'll toil.
You'll just lay there by the juniper,
while the moon is bright,
watch them jugs a'fillin',
in the pale moon light.
My Daddy, he made whiskey,
Grandad, he did, too.
We ain't paid no whiskey tax
since seventeen-ninety-two.
We just lay there by the juniper,
while the moon is bright,
watch them jugs a'fillin'
in the pale moon light.
Build you a fire with hickory,
Hickory, Ash, and Oak.
Don't use no green or rotten wood,
they'll get you by the smoke.
