The Aquarius New Moon occurs on February 13, 2010 at 6:51pm Pacific/9:51pm Eastern, and February 14 at 2:51 am GMT.
A new Moon is a beginning time, a time to plant symbolic seeds that will grow in the coming moon cycle. Aquarius is the sign of the zodiac which represents the Collective Mind, group consciousness and archetypal patterns, such as the Liberator or the Genius, as well as the guiding ideals of the group mind, such as Freedom and Individuality.
Aquarius is a fixed air sign and so it releases energy focused on a fixed purpose. "Aquarius releases the energy of Capricorn and represents civilization expanding or reforming itself through its inventors, seers and revolutionaries." (D. Rudhyar, Pulse of Life). It represents archetypal ideals, such as Justice, Peace, Courage, Love, etc.
The New Moon in Aquarius is the energetic time of year to plant seeds of ideas and ideals that will benefit all of us in the future. This year this is a vitally important activity. This new Moon falls near America's Aquarian Moon, which represents the People and their needs. What values do we want to live by? What virtues need renewing? What new ideas come out of naming those qualities that you feel represent the best in humanity? How can we evolve our cultural institutions to meeting our changing vision?
This Aquarius New Moon is conjoined Chiron and Neptune. Last year 3 planets came together in Aquarius around this degree, opening us to: Chiron, healing energy; Jupiter, the enlarging vision; and Neptune, the Creative Imagination. Neptune stays in a sign for 14 years, and during that time, it initiates a new collective ideal of the highest good that's related to the sign it's in. Jupiter expands this ideal and makes it a guiding principle for us, while Chiron heals the old wounds that keep us from believing in the possibilities of a better future. These planets combined last year to ignite visions of a better, healed future that might finally incorporate the ideals of our Founding Fathers and Mothers. The cosmic clock is ticking it's time for humanity to take a leap in consciousness.
This New Moon marks the beginning of the process of dispersion of these new healing visions into the collective mind. Our feeling of unity is growing; many of us know that we are all in this together - humans, Earth, animals, oceans, atmosphere. Uranus, one of the rulers of Aquarius, is at 25*Pisces: After drastic reforms, a purified clergy officiates anew. This is one of the symbols which influences the New Moon. The symbol stands for a rededication to spiritual ideals and the dissolution of ego-desires in service to others, as well as the "purifying' of social corruption.
