Sitting comfy with my mac on my lap in a nice warm room out here in the middle of nowhere in "small town" USA, I am going blind, obsessively surfing the net with my nose glued to the TV news. Watching the demonstrations in NYC, Boston, Chicago, etc. Every fiber of my being wanted to be at the "die in" that closed Grand Central Station in NYC. [I say! Well done!] I am so completely with you in spirit but want to be on the ground too. Watching all you beautiful people, marching and making noise.
This movement, like Occupy, is amazing. The diversity is positively inspiring. Now, the press no longer shrugs us off by sneering at our youth, calling us dirty hippies and anti-American. These uprisings are different. The r-evolution has grown all-inclusive. Old and young, black and white, everyone in between: taking to the streets protesting, raising one voice in common cause. All for one and one for all! We are a perfect storm.
We insist upon an level playing field. Equal justice. No more playing ball where one team has different rules than the other. "Say, hey buddy, you only get one strike and you're out. The other team gets four each." Seriously? We refuse to play that game anymore. The field will be leveled.
Please try to be nice and polite to our boys and girls in blue. The injustice is often beyond the control of the rank and file. Rise above it and try to have some empathy. Look also for fault way up the chain of command to where the real dirt is. Follow the money to the top to the big wigs who give the orders. Police people are part of the 99%. But, just as in any military organization, orders must be followed. This time, the bad apples are going to be removed. We demand it.
With all due respect, it's time to clean house, sir, yessir.
Take care of yourself and your sisters and brothers. As has become evident, police can hurt you. They are allowed to kill you. PLEASE don't give them reason. Get arrested if so inclined but think peace, think healing, be non-violence incarnate. Don't let your righteous anger lead you to act badly. Consider also the probability of agent provocateurs. Avoid them and the violence they instigate like the plague: they are sent to discredit our message. Rise above the hate and channel your anger.
Use your mind. Use your creativity.
Kill em with kindness.
You are fabulous. Each of you a shining star.
Be safe. Be cool.
Be loud.
