The article tells another chapter in the history of West Papua since the United Nations in 1963 invited Indonesia to administrate the territory on behalf of all the UN members. Death, torture and repression are nothing new to this territory though it should never be acceptable to the 89 UN members that voted to make West Papua a trust territory in 1962.
Censorship has been suspected for fifty years by the West Papuan people as hundreds of thousands of their countrymen and women had suffered and died under the UN and Indonesian administration. But today I have discovered that the mere mention of that small news outlet WestPapuaMedia.info is banned from Facebook and a number of other sites hosted from the United States. Neither facebook nor others have yet explained the dastardly deed which this news group has allegedly committed to deserve being banned and made taboo to facebook users and others.
What is certain is that censorship is still very much alive despite the illusion of a free Internet.
