"Gun's don't kill people, people kill people." Think about that for a moment. That is the NRA's mantra they use to keep people from having a simple
background check on gun buyers, not just in gun stores or pawn shops, but gun conventions across this country. It sounds just as stupid now as it did the first time I hear it many years ago. Of course guns don't kill people. It only provides the means for someone to kill people.
I have guns. How many is
my business and I'll own as many as a I please. How does a background check stop me from continuing to buy more guns? Some love guns for the sheer joy of collecting guns as other's collect rocks. Some love hunting with their purebred dogs or going to firing ranges or even collecting guns for an investment.
Many people collect gold, which I'm damn sure the NRA has no problem with, and millions more collect other things I think are wacky (beanie babies?) You can make a living buying and selling guns and there is nothing wrong with that either? Do the 10% think waiting a couple of days to buy that gun will be bad for business. I call bullshit. The terrorists, homegrown or foreign, buy their killing machines from bad people, not
pawn shops.
Personally, I don't care about M15's or the banana clips. I know quite a few people who have them and enjoy target shooting the same way millions of others love shooting automatic paintball guns. The paintball enthusiasts are actually shooting at each other. Then, you have the video games that kill cops and bad guys and supposedly make kids kill. Bullshit!
There are a million and one ways to purchase a gun of any kind in this country or around the world. No matter how many laws are made to keep up with guns, if someone wants to kill, they will kill. I know where I can buy 20 illegal guns right now, and not even think about it. I have lived and moved around in areas where people sit in their cars and sell them right out of the back of their trunks. No muss, no fuss. This gun legislation is going to be as effective as tit's on a bull.
But I believe there is nothing wrong in waiting to buy a few days to buy a gun. If you "need" a gun from a pawn shop this very minute, the pawn shop must be near a bank. If we let a few senators and 10% of the population make the rules, then the Second Amendment they keep screaming about is being violated as we speak. The Founding Fathers let the Genie out of the bottle by allowing us guns in the Second Amendment, but they also gave us a Democracy where the majority rules and if 10% can overrule 90%, screw the Second Amendment.
I can hear people now,"They didn't use guns in Boston". No, they didn't. They also didn't use guns in Oklahoma. But I think some kids in Columbine showed that anyone, including kids, can get guns and banana clips and even
instructions on how to make bombs. Hell, the internet is full of this stuff. As I said, we lost yesterday to the NRA and their vault full of election money, period.
Their money always seems to go to lifetime politicians for some reason. Why is that?
