Rep. Paul Ryan wants to do away with Medicare as we know it, although he is kind enough to cut the age limit off at 55, mainly because these are core voters and you wouldn't want to upset someone who may vote Republican. Now, it seems he wants to cut out millions of American Veterans from getting medical care. Unless they were wounded in action, the men and women in the military could not get help at a veterans hospital under Ryan's plan to cut veteran benefits. You can always tell when civilians talk about the military. They have no idea that it takes seven or eight people behind the scenes for every soldier who is fighting in the war they voted to put him in.
These people load planes, supply ammunition and do the paperwork so their families can get a check every month, and some get hurt in plane crashes, lifting supply boxes or any number of accidents in the work place.Yet these people will have no medical insurance because if Ryan cuts out veterans benefits and also cuts out Medicare, what is a person to do? So when I picked up a newspaper and found out that he and his family where making tens of thousands of dollars on bills that have come in front of him in congress, I was outraged.
When Ryan and his wife disclosed their financial disclosure form last month, it showed they have stakes in four family companies that lease land in Texas and Oklahoma to the very energy companies that benefit from the billions in tax subsidies in Ryan's own budget plan. If this is not a conflict of interest nothing is, and it just goes to show how hypocritical these people are, especially Ryan who wants to literally put people on the streets with no health care whatsoever.
These very companies have made more money this year than at any other time in our nation's history, yet Ryan and his buddies in congress are giving them billions in tax breaks at a time when the deficit, which is all he talks about, is also the largest in history. He wants to cut the deficit on the backs of the poor while he and his cronies sit back and collect checks from Big Oil. This is scandalous.
Ryan's office says the congressman wasn't thinking about himself or the oil companies that lease his land, when he drafted the budget blueprint that extended the energy tax breaks. "These are properties that Congressman Ryan married into," spokesman Kevin Seifert said. "It's not something he has a lot of control over." So because he married into them, he won't profit from them? Sounds like the same kind logic Dick Cheney used for Halliburton.
This is not all. Ryan and his family have also benefited from the farm subsidies that mostly go to corporate farms. In addition to the tax breaks, federal records show his father-in-law and great-aunt have collected more than $50,000 in agriculture subsidies on lands owned by the family. If this isn't keeping it in the family, what is?
Ryan talks of sacrifice. He says that Americans must sacrifice to lower the budget and the deficit. Yet Big Oil companies, which are making money in unheard of sums, are getting tax breaks. Do they not need to sacrifice? Corporate farms, who are making money hand-over-fist while raising food prices more and more everyday, are getting tax breaks. Do they not need to sacrifice? Finally, Rep. Ryan, whose family is making hundreds of thousands of dollars from tax breaks that he voted for, are getting tax breaks. Does not he and his family not need to sacrifice? Ryan, by far, is the biggest hypocrite in government!
