Colorful objects really add something to your life. Take a look around, and see if there are any colors you are missing, or how this one color makes you feel when you walk into the room. I just finished with orange, and have begun using the color purple. When we see a person start to feel relieved, even their body language begins to relax, it is unmistakable that what you did or said made that person feel this way. This is how colors make me feel, I just know after choosing a color, right away I notice the tension in my shoulders becomes relaxed. This feeling comes alive again when I reenter the room. I am steadiliy realizing that my life is slowly gaining new color.

Sometimes the right color is hard to find, the shade of red I was looking for came in the form of a thermos bottle lid. Back in the day before they invented plastic they had other materials like Bake-Lite. Purple came to me not by my choice, it was the color of my vacuum cleaner. As I used the vacuum each day I began to really like this color, or maybe it was the other way around and this color was really making me happy. Needing a pillow case for my new pillow, I wanted it to be special so I decided to get this pillow case with purple birds, and butterflies etched on the white fabric background. I couldn't stop, this color really had gotten a hold of me so instead of setting it down, decided to get a purple iron for keeping my clothes looking nice. Yesterday I found an Amethest rock which has an amazing deepness to the color purple, quickly taking it from the closet and displaying it.

Sometimes you see a color elsewhere and you just have to have it. I found an item with the most amazing color, it is yellow. It's not an item I would use for anything, it is a hand held mirror from England. If you get the item wet, it smells like menthol. It is not Bake-Lite, but made from some other material. So I am finding out new stuff about the world as I look for colors. I am even getting to travel far places, and that part is really neat. After having the mirror displayed for awhile, I realized how important yellow was because I don't own another thing that is the color yellow. So listen to your instincts, I don't think I did this enough before, but now that I do, I now have this wonderful color of yellow in my life.

Green was really fun for me, while shopping for green I noticed that the leaves of plants have different textures. You can also layer plants according to their height. And once you finish with this color, you will probably get some visitors, I got to see two tree frogs doing a mating dance right in front of me when I open up the curtain to my apartment patio. There was a green lizard who hung out with me on the patio, so it seams green is a really good choice for color in ones life, no wonder nature choose this one over all others.

The other thing I have learned while searching for colors in my new life, is that they can be used to travel in time. I have this vintage airstream trailer which is all aluminum, or should I say the color light grey. To make my whole surrounding seem like it is from a time period in the past, I decided to see what colors are available from others past. I found this old pot for boiling water, with this magnificent black handle. Oh,and I got to get another yellow, picked out this dutch oven which also added to this time traveling vintage look. Colors, or maybe it is just our imaginations; either way, I think you will find doing things you ordinary do not do each day, that this is a good idea not just when looking to add some color to your life.

I want to say something else here, choose your colors with responsibility. There are only so many items in the world and we do not want to take more than our share. It does not take a lot of any particular color for it to have it's effect on you. When I collected rocks, I would wait until the rock show came to my city, and once there I would only buy one rock. It made me look more carefully, it made me appreciate that single item even more. Plus, having too many items of anything makes the room look bad, it is the contrast of the background, and the color of the foreground that makes this wonderful noticable offset. I included some pictures below so that you can see the colors I picked. I know you will have fun playing with colors, and I bet you are like me and will learn a lot of other things on your way.

I have lived in the suburbs of my large city, always finding a place nearby to escape to be with the wildlife, or travel with my wonderful step father to enjoy all that is offered in the small town he grew up in. I got to have a nice education (more...)
