Hon. Senator John McCain,
I have followed this campaign from day one and am growing ever more concerned with the tactics being used on your behalf, perhaps with your full knowledge.
With the most recent use of false accusations accusing your opponent of being nothing more than a terrorist, a Muslim and the resultant hate mongering associated with those claims, the situation is approaching the yelling of "Fire" in a crowded theater.
If the type of people you are calling "My Friends" are these hate-mongers who believe the lies about Obama being a terrorist and a Muslim, then your idea of "friend" is far different than mine or of most upstanding Americans.
Your rallies appear to be attracting the worst elements in American Society. Those same elements that would be members of the KKK or of right-wing Nazi sympathizers who accept hate and violence as a "legitimate" means to an end.
What is worse, your running mate, Sara Palin appears to be encouraging this behavior in your name! This would certainly promote the image that she is deliberately inciting hate and racism in the name of the McCain campaign. Rather than making people understand in very clear terms that these claims are false, Palin smiles and let's them believe the lies, even re-affirming the known lies by saying they are not lies?
In an Op-Ed for The Baltimore Sun, Frank Schaeffer writes: "John McCain: If your campaign does not stop equating Sen. Barack Obama with terrorism, questioning his patriotism and portraying Mr. Obama as "not one of us,"- I accuse you of deliberately feeding the most unhinged elements of our society the red meat of hate, and therefore of potentially instigating violence."-
Is this John McCain's definition of a "respectful" campaign?
