Early on in this campaign Obama was heavily criticized for being unpatriotic in large part because he did not wear a lapel flag pin. The fact that he stated everything he has and has accomplished he owed to America and the American way of life.

At the same time McCain was being touted as being the ultimate in patriotism primarily due to his being a POW! A situation the Rove-led Bush campaign turned against him in the 2000 primary campaign as they had people believing that McCain was emotionally unstable as a result of his being imprisoned over that span in his life.

Now you never see Obama without that flag pin, but I have yet to see the “patriotic” McCain wear one. So, are we to believe that McCain in fact is unpatriotic? According to the Rovian agenda that would be the case and when one listens to McCain and his agenda one can also see that his patriotism is in fact not to America and its people, but to corporations and special interests.

This campaign is not about two individuals. It is about Democracy vs. Fascism.

It is our nation's last hope to regain a Democracy, in my opinion, as four more years of continuing down the slippery slope we are heading will make permanent the shredded Constitution, the losses of civil rights, the justice system that does the bidding of the Executive branch, the entrenchment of lobbyists in the legislative process, the increase in laws and regulations favoring corporations, “free trade” agreements which instills fascist ideals throughout the world, a continuance of the decay of the working middle class in our country thus creating a “haves and have not” society as seen in all third world countries.

These next four years are vital to our nation. We all know McCain will continue the nation's slide down the slippery slope. Truthfully, we are not certain Obama will correct those areas necessary toward regaining our Democracy. I for one would like to at least hear him voice it. It would not only give me assurance, but I believe would win the election for him. A troubling thing for me was when he showed he could be controlled when he started wearing that pin.
