I have an idea for saving more of the oil than they are currently saving, but I have no idea how to get the idea to anyone who can evaluate it and, if viable, make it happen. In addition, because no one can copyright an idea, I have sent this idea to two attorneys.
The concept is simple:
à ‚¬ Using a material similar to that used for Hot Air Balloons - the kind that people take cross-country rides in - find a way to attach the balloon to the pipe, from which the oil is constantly spewing.
à ‚¬ As the balloon nears its capacity of oil, replace it with another empty balloon.
à ‚¬ Take the first balloon and pump the oil from it into an oil tanker ship; that balloon is now ready to be used again.
à ‚¬ Continue this process until a better way to stop the flow altogether is found.
In the meantime, at least nearly all of the oil coming from that pipe on the seabed will not be lost and not be able to foul the environment more than it already has.
The oil saved and pumped into the tanker ship should then become the property of the people in those states who have lost their income, due to BP's errors! Whatever profit is made from the sale of that reclaimed oil should go to the people who lost their income due to the oil.
Because my wife and I are very close to being foreclosed upon, I would love to get a very small percentage of the saved oil's profits - just enough to solve our mortgage problems.
But the idea is now "out there" to be used with my permission, so long as the royalties, so to speak, go to saving those people in the gulf region who have been hit badly by this disaster.
