Here are some thoughts on the Paris bloodbath.
Gun nuts who argue that if concert attendees had been carrying things would have been different.

If people were carrying and started shooting, the terrorists, with automatic weapons, would have sprayed bullets in their direction, killing them and everyone near them. This is a terrorist attack, not some dumb convenience store burglar. The absence of gun carrying individuals surely saved lives. Any fool who tried to pull out a concealed carry weapon would have endangered all the people around him.

Islamophobe racists who use this tragedy as an excuse to oppose immigration-- of Syrians or anyone else.

The refugees leaving Syria are VICTIMS of these terrorists. They are trying to escape them, just like Jews during WWII tried to leave Germany. Thinking like the Islamophobe anti-immigration people was what led to Jews being refused entry into the USA. There is some legitimacy to the concern that terrorists may use the cover of the refugee flood to slip through our borders. That means that every refugee must be vetted before leaving for the US. This is difficult but not impossible.

This was a false flag operation?

Please. My drain backed up in my kitchen yesterday. The NSA did it. No, actually, the main drain outside my apartment building backed up.
I am so tired of every violent action being attributed to governments. There's no question that governments are often sociopathic, evil, dishonest, even murderous. But please, don't Alex Jones, knee-jerk react to every event, labelling it a false flag operation (actually, so far Alex Jones has not called this a false flag attack.) There are also bad people and Daesh/ISIL is one bad organization, filled with angry psychopathic killers. There's one possible false flag idea that did flash into my mind-- that one of the terrorists-- someone wearing a explosive vest, not exactly planning to do any out of country travel-- left a Syrian passport. But that's not really a false flag, is it? Now, the neocon NYTimes reports that the passport was from a Syrian who had passed through Germany with the flood of refugees. But do we know that the blown up suicide bomber was the actual person the passport represents? And there was at least one of the attackers identified as a Frenchman from Chartres. As we so often find, the most deadly terrorists are born natives.
Some say Israel's Mossad perpetrated the "false flag. Actually, it could be that the reason the theater was attacked was that it was owned by Jews and held many Jewish events over the past 40 years.

This was done to punish France for participating in the tragedy that's been going on in the Middle East-- Israel, Iraq, Syria.

Yes Israel is horrible in the way it treats Palestinians and even its own Arab and African citizens. Bibi Netanyahu is Israel's version of Dick Cheney. Yes, US neocon imperialism is despicable and both the US and Israel are guilty of war crimes and France has been a part of the fight. But there is no reason on this earth for mass murders of innocent civilians as was perpetrated last night.

People, nations and organizations will exploit this tragedy.
Yes. Military, politicians, NRA, haters-- and the cost will be paid in billions of dollars, thousands of lives and the suffering of hundreds of thousands. It is useful to ask the question qui buono-- who benefits?
This Will Benefit Right-Wingers, Neocons and the military industrial complex-- Anti-immigrants, racists, haters, right wing extremists, like Marine La Pen will use the tragedy and exploit it to their benefit.
Frank Bruni's NYTimes article, The Exploitation of Paris, also explores this idea, opining,
"Can't we wait until we've resolved the body count? Until the identities of all of the victims have been determined and their families informed? Until the sirens stop wailing? Until the blood is dry?
Or must we instantly bootstrap obliquely related agendas and utterly unconnected grievances to the carnage in Paris, responding to it with an unsavory opportunism instead of a respectful grief?"

Earlier this year, Nafeez Ahmed wrote the piece "No Piers Morgan. This is how to destroy the Islamic State," which states:
"Uncontrollable rage and ritual denunciations are not going to defeat IS. To defeat IS, we need to recognize that this Frankenstein's monster is neither simply a fault of 'the West,' nor of 'the Muslims.' It is a co-creation of the Western and Muslim worlds, specifically of Western and Muslim 'security' agencies who have lost all moral compass in the pursuit of geopolitical prowess, self-aggrandizement and corporate profiteering. Citizens of all faiths and none must stand together in solidarity to reject the violence perpetrated in our name on all sides."
There's so much hate and intolerance in the world. Somehow, we need to stop it, perhaps a challenge even more difficult than peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
